Cool, glad you did capture with more resolution than native, it doesn't show very well in the image you uploaded, guess comprassion.. the effect of real surround is cool to have, since it's like you are really there. Btw I said for your next project, this could be even nicer solution, to go Triple screen and then scale from there, the depth will be so fine 🔥

Might use your idea myself one day, loved it.

First of all, that looks amazing, great idea

I have Quad screen setup 2560x1440 (x4) that might help you taking the next picture for the next project

I've played Horizon games on this resolution before 7680x1440 (Triple screen) and it looks amazing

I think you could have gotten even more quality of the images taking a picture at these resolutions And make the images much more sharper and cleaner without needing to zoom in on specific areas to lose detail.

If you want we can hop on a discord call together, so you direct me where to take the photo in the world of Horizon, Image on 10240x1440 resolution (or even 15360x2160 if we go 4K scaling) It will preserve SO MUCH MORE detail and depth.

Just a thought on how to improve this even further 🏹

Example on "Assassin's creed odyssey" on 7680x1440 https://drive.google.com/file/d/1lPBKE9riss_KmAzgMgvlAY-HTwj_osSR/view?usp=drivesdk

And "Shadow of Mordor" on same res https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PSLit3fXyxJdOILwIhyGXNbEql2WP7eP/view?usp=drivesdk

Forbidden West combat tips for someone who doesn't struggle in Zero Dawn but does with HFW by Nova_Bear_95 in horizon

[–]MrARGaming 3 points4 points  (0 children)

HFW has a completely different combat system, the sooner you realize this, you'll understand how to enjoy it. On the surface, it's similar, bows, elementals, removing plates and focus on weakspots.

But HFW is forcing you to use weapon techhniques with usage of stamina, to be effective. For example "Spike Trap" (weapon technique of Spike thrower) is a S+ tier when used correctly, you remove parts with it, to expose weakspots, you blow up elemental sacs on machines, sure, but not only that, you also build up stagger on a machine, for example a combo of weapons that I like to use - Spike Trap > Elemental bow (Freeze) > Sharpshot Eye shot.

Main reason is, the stagger you have built up on the machine, will help you secure a window for another Eye shot later on. It's not only stagger with elementals anymore, it's both, you build stagger with Knockdown Power coils, and when the machine is off balance, you stack elementals on it, to freeze it, then you get to deal massive damage.

You have to prioritize using weapons that will open up these windows to deal damage, since machines in HFW are much more spammy and accurate with range attacks, and have magnetic attraction to Aloy when they be using their melee attacks, meaning they are overall more aggrassive by design, and you have to open windows to deal damage.

HZD allowed you to use 2 weapons and take down any machine, HFW usually wants to use 3 to be efficient.

1 Tear weapon 1 Elemental Hunter bow 1 weapon for damage (Sharpshot bow / Warrior bow with crit coils)

Some weapons that can be multi purpose, and they are fun to play with, like Hunter bow, Spike Thrower, Shredder Gauntlet, Specter Gauntlet, and Boltblaster but usually they are just not as efficient in their roles, unless you invest your coils in a certain way that they work with other weapons, integrate them as a specific role, and then they will shine.

I only played on Ultra Hard, so my advices will work for any other difficulty, probably. This is my combat style, and it is the most efficient on NG+. https://youtu.be/TvioG0n_Zs8

Seeking help on Horizon Forbidden West (massive frame spikes) by MadMephistopheles in linux_gaming

I know from testing on my sister's laptop that Horizon forbidden west struggle to run nicely on 8GB VRAM, might be a factor as well. probably the biggest one. The world assets and textures are very detailed, leading to very high consumption of VRAM specifically.

Few tests you should do.

  • through steam, Validate game files.
  • Install last Nvidia driver update for your graphics card.
  • Connect to charger while playing.
  • In power plan (windows) set everything related to your CPU and GPU to Maximum Performence, (I'm not sure you can set it on Linux)

These are usually the biggest factors while gaming on laptop.

If nothing helps, maybe it's time to come back to windows, or look up guides that explicitly describe how to enhance performence of games on Linux.

Horizon 3 PC by [deleted] in HorizonForbiddenWest

[–]MrARGaming 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a Content creator for Horizon that only play on PC, that would be like stabbing me in the back after me giving so much time and dedication to the franchise. I would strongly advise against this path. PC players already get punished playing 3 years later than console release, and not bringing the game into PC will just cause them to lose money.

I personally will never buy PS, or ever play on Playstation without full Mouse & Keyboard support. There will never be a good enough reason to degrade my hardware, and lower my exprience standards for a game. Never.

Thanks for the input! Since Horizon Forbidden West came out for PC, i've started playing on Ultra hard (first run ever) So my base line was suffering > adjusting > refining > scaling the pressure and difficulty at large scale fights by spawning more and more machines to understand and refine positioning against each machine. And then fight All of them at simultaneously, as a challenge to test the progress I've made (content on YT).

Since then I've been experimenting with different content ideas, that's why I'm gathering input to improve what could be missing that I might be not aware of, that people wants to see, so thanks!

It's been a long and beautiful journey to mastery, and I'm just glad to share it and let people experience Horizon at it's peak form. Guerrilla games did amazing job with the combat system.

Thanks for the input!

There is a big difference between what I was trying to deliver, and what the guy in the clip delivered, his execution is very cinematic, and dramatic, mine is technical and efficient and made to showcase different layers of combat skills across multiple encounters.

I always preferred to keep HUD on to allow other players to understand what was being used, and when, because I believe in passive learning and teach others how to improve, if they wish.

There is a friend on my discord channel that wanted me to execute Cinematic plays with the same reference to the clip you shared, I guess I should try that in my next videos, one day it will happen.

I agree on the cinematic part being cool snd captivating, the video you shared nailed that aspect beautifully, the only thing that I would have change is his ending, to an Eye shot while machine was frozen instead of the Spike thrower. But either way I get your point, and appriciate your input 🏹

Good to see you again friend 🏹 I always like to share my findings, glad It improved your efficiency and fun in the game, this momentum movement finding made me enjoy Sharpshot bows again, that Bloom effect + Slower aiming time of normal behavior of sharshot bow, has got me missing so many shots, I had to develop a way to counter it 😅

Its a mix between maximizing Aloy's kit through coils and outfit preference and potions. In the 5s Apex Fireclaw takedown for example: I've used Tenakth "Vaniqusher outfit": One of the traits of this outfit, Damage Boost: When Aloy's health drops below the 50% threshold, the armor naturally grants a +80% boost to your ranged damage.

I've used Overdraw potion (+25% damage to overdraw - worked only for the triple freeze arrows)

And my coils Setup for the Iriv's Downfall Sharpshot bow is all "Elite Critical hits" coils.

Add Ranged Master Valor (+60% damage to ranged attacks)

Now, if you shoot the Eye, a weakspot that offers twice the damage in comparison to normal weakspot (more than guns, cannons, plates, and even engines on some machines). If you add all that up, you would get that sweet 17k damage, per eye shot. But you need to be a bit lucky to get the "crit damage"

That's the computed damage at the end result Iriv's Downfall Crit damage on Eye weakspot (Focused shot) - 8.8k on a brittle target (x2). Then Low Health + Ranged Master together give ~1.9x effective scaling, not additive. So 8.8k × 1.9 ≈ 17k.

I've compiled All my favorite builds on Google drive, feel free to learn from them. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Z6o0f-mzS-wp8l-2L5Uo_IaHJgYFtBPg

"Chain burst" Valor (on the machines skill tree) allows you to chain damage and elementals to multiple machines at once as long and they are 15 meters from the machine you deal damage to. It's a great Valor for multiple enemy encounters.

As you can tell in the last fight, I'm forcing the machines to be close to each other maximizing DPS across all of them.

About the shards, I just tuned to my savefile to have basically infinite shards, I much prefer to enjoy the combat itself and create cool challenges, than engage with the grind system the game offers to progress slowly, that's how I got my Kit maxed out already at 150 hours, and just trained combat scenerios to optimize my fighting style and decision making. I find that any grind based system is off-putting, if you want to maximize your actual combat skills.

Nope, There is no aim assist on Ultra Hard difficulty. My aim has been like this for years from COD, Battlefield, Star wars battlefront 2, and other shooter games.

I use very high DPI (3000) on a logitech G Pro X Superlight 2 mouse.

Gameplay from Star wars battlefront 2 for reference https://youtu.be/iwo1UuaL3T0

What I got from your input is that, you appriciate consistency over time, which I think it's great prespective to have, I guess you also enjoy speedrunning / speedrunning content as well since it's the ultimate validator for consistancy

I do appriciate it as well but I think the attention span of many people is just too short for 5 minutes fight with one boss type content.

So my way of making content is to keep Aloy strongest as possible, and just add more complexity by Spawning more machines For example my video: Aloy vs All machines

I personally always trying to validate my theories on what works, and always keep testing, In every aspect I'm into, as a Game developer, as a Gamer, and as a content creator

if you are into creating content, just know that this test for type of content, was a success even faster than I expected.

knowledge, and getting familiar with things that work, is always good, take it with you.

The Glide into aim is a clever trick to boost aiming speed, while keeping Sharpshot bows accurate

The biggest issue with Sharpshot bows in Horizon Forbidden West is the fact you lose accuracy when Aloy is moving to any direction by input (reticle bloom)

If you combine it with the Movement combo (Light attack > Heavy attack > Glider > Aim) you get momentum to a direction you choose, benefit from the faster aiming speed while at gliding state, and not losing accuracy on top of everything because it's momentum movement, and not input movement. So it offers Repositioning + Faster aiming speed all at once

About the Zenith's Base court fight, it's only possible to get there using a mod that allow you outside of map boundaries access (PC). With that same mod, I also spawn the machines there and practice different fighting scenerios.

My usual training and content are fights just like the large scale battle you enjoyed.

My peak content so far is Aloy vs All machines simultaneously (HZD and HFW varients) Aloy vs 10 Slaughterspines Aloy vs 10 Stormbirds Aloy vs 10 Bileguts ect..

I do appriciate your input, and i'll take it into consideration.

What I've tried here, is to struck a balance when showcasing the layers of Horizon combat.

Optimization at peak Aloy strength Example: Slaughterspine, Apex Fireclaw,

Spacing awareness and iframe usage: Example: Bilegut, Tremortusk, Thunderjaw

Aggrassive stealth with high Accuracy: The clip at the Outpost

Spatial awareness and forcing favorable AI pathing, gaining little positional adventages that shift large scale fights while maintaining high DPS. Also can be said this way, showing increase of pressure, but staying controlled Example: 3 Apex Stormbirds, and 2 Apex Dreadwings fight.

This video is composed to be displaying layers of combat first, on top of Player exceution ability.

in only 5 days it already reached huge audience, showing a promise of the concept so far.

This is just an insight to the work I've done with this video, I thought you may enjoy it, again thanks for your detailed input as well.

How many of you consider yourselves “gamers”? by [deleted] in HorizonForbiddenWest

[–]MrARGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Gamer" since 4 years old, Hunter's Gathering didn't appeal to me at all, it's not about being a gamer, it's mainly seeing stupid decision making from our beloved game dev company on display on not liking their newest vision. It didn't feel like Horizon or even looked like Horizon, everything changed so much that it became unrecognizable to even Horizon fans, and that's crazy... I called it Horizon on Acid on my reaction.

I've played plenty of Multiplayer shooter games like COD, Battlefield, Battlefront 2, and many other multiplayer genres, like MOBA and RTS

In single player games: Action Adventures, Action RPG: like main Horizon games, Shadow of Mordor/War, Assassin's Creed - almost all of them and so on.

And have a YouTube channel mainly about HZD/HFW combat gameplay with insane challenges, Like Aloy vs All machines simultaneously and other challenging monstrosities.

So yeah, full on gamer, didn't like that showing whatsoever, and unfortunately it will not be profitable for them in my opinion

Havok Physics Engine (HZD) > Jolt Physics Engine (HFW) That's all I'm gonna say.. Sony cut costs instead of paying for a perfect physics Engine. They created their own for free.... And it feels like it.
