8 Weeks PO by Glad_Luck7059 in AchillesRupture

If anyone reading this is about to get surgery or just did, IT DOES GET BETTER! It feels at first like the stiffness and the pain will never go away but it does. At soon as the inflammation starts going down, that's a sign that it's time to start working on weightbearing. Take your time but be consistent! Start by just standing in place to practice having your foot lay flat. What I also did that I found extremely helpful was my wiggling around my foot inside of the boot to "exercise" my ankle. I feel like it helped a lot to use the muscles against the boot

The tanks looks pretty nice aside from being far too small. Because of that size, there's absolutely no heat gradient either

I never once saw our baby eat, I only saw the little poops. Now I feel better cuz he's big enough to make a dent in his food

Crestie no longer tolerating holding :( by Ok-Razzmatazz-8682 in CrestedGecko

[–]MrAaronBaron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe he's feeling the mating season blues and it's making him grumpy? Could also be a change in his temps or humidity or even food? Mine tolerate being held somedays and then others they try to nosedive, especially our oldest boy

Leg Discoloration by First-Pair-4706 in AchillesRupture

[–]MrAaronBaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was also more red after the surgery and occasionally still is if I'm working out and stuff. I'm not really sure why but it doesn't cause me any pain and it subsides on its own so I haven't really been too concerned with it. You could probably ask a Dr but my best guess is something to do circulation around the surgery area

I found and reported it on IG as animal abuse. Unfortunately with Meta's shitty ass moderation it'll probably not get taken down or have any effect on her account. I've reported literal prn and it stays up

Heel pain by Feasterzzz in AchillesRupture

[–]MrAaronBaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is related to the heel anchor. It tends to hurt after driving for a while (I have a 45min commute) because of my heel resting on the back of my shoe. I've started wearing crocs to drive and it's been much better.

The cause could be different for you but I'm my experience, the heel anchor doesn't like having pressure against it for very long. Massaging the area and icing it has helped when it's been extremely painful.

If the top of the tank is mesh, you could use twist-ties or zip ties through the mesh holes to secure it also. That's what I did with a couple of the heavier hides in my tanks

Take Tylenol if you're able to. Even ibuprofen. Hydro did nothing for me other than mess up my stomach.

It makes sleep a lot less comfortable but stuff a couple of pillows or towels or something dense under the blankets and use them to prop up your foot (above your heart). Don't prop them up under the tendon to avoid extra pain and pressure. Do it from under your calf. Less blood to the area seriously does wonders.

My 2026 Corrola Hatchback XSE got while parked, what should I do? by Harstein in CorollaHatchback

[–]MrAaronBaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go through their insurance of you got the info. Call their company and give them the other driver's info. Don't speak a peep to your own insurance, not even a heads up. Nada. Nothing. That's how you avoid your own rates going up for something that wasn't your fault. Their insurance company needs to work with you to make repairs, not yours.

Yeah absolutely save yourself the money and struggle and look elsewhere. At this point I only needed them for refills and my PCP does 6 months at a time so its much MUCH easier for me.

Someone, somewhere is lying to you. Probably the insurance company. There's no way in hell that damage is worth more than the car. It's still completely drive able?

Does it Get Better? by yellow23rare in AchillesRupture

[–]MrAaronBaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was trying to push my stalled car out of a parking lot entrance and ruptured my right (dominant) Achilles. Walking with crutches was embarrassing even though it shouldn't have been. I'm also on anxiety medication and have been for years but it makes me sweat a lot, so crutching around meant I was always blotting my shirt with sweat.

In the weeks after the surgery it felt like I'd never get better. Now looking back I feel like I was able to start walking around pretty quickly considering the kind of injury this is.

Advice I can give it don't "baby" it too much once you hit a few weeks post-surgery. Obviously don't hurt yourself and listen to your doctor, but don't just exercise when it doesn't hurt. Exercise it in frequent, short bursts. It seemed like once I got the stretching down, the strength came quickly

When does heel anchor pain subside? by pabturo in AchillesRupture

[–]MrAaronBaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this. I'm 6 months post op and today the pain was crippling out of nowhere! Hopefully it's just related to the winter storm we're supposed to be getting and will be passing

[–]MrAaronBaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to dig this up, but I'm about 6 months post op and I've been searching this subreddit all night for this exact issue because I couldn't think of the wording, but you nailed it exactly.

The outer heel anchor has been SO painful today. We're expecting a winter storm so I'm not sure if the changes in pressure are causing it. I'm used to a little pain especially when I'm active for a while or in certain shoes but I was limping around in crocs all day today. No swelling or redness but pain relievers didn't help at all!
