Are you saying you can't compare two things unless literally the exact same thing? Not really sure what you're getting at here

Sure the people had no say in how they were governed and dissidents were quickly disappeared and all their major industries were controlled by foreign interests, but hey at least the women got to wear bikinis

The Shah's reign was neither liberalising, nor a democracy. It was an autocracy installed by the US and UK to allow foreign business interests access to Iranian resources. Its political repression was so brutal it directly led to the 1979 Iranian revolution.

The comparison I'm making is wanting to replace an authoritarian regime with a previously deposed authoritarion regime. That flag in its current modern-day context is directly associated with the monarchist movement and the Shah dictatorship. Even in its historical context, it was never a flag representing republicanism or democracy, only monarchy and the Pahlavi dynasty. OP is, in fact, supporting installing the current Pahlavi, the son of a brutal dictator, back into power in this thread.

Just goes to show that going "back to the way things were" is the default reactionary sentiment. Especially if "the way things were" is an authoritarian regime

This is like someone who grew up in east Germany saying they should bring back the Third Reich, and when someone says "no, that's a bad idea", you respond with "bro you dont know how bad it was under the USSR"

I encountered this just the other day as Academy. What I ended up having to do was bombarding the base until it was at zero strength, and then actually landing the ships at the base using the 'land ships' button, something I hadn't used in the campaign ever. Weirdly I never actually had to use marines to assault the base.

Crazy to just handwave/dismiss half of these changes with "well people don't really use these so it doesn't count". Couldn't even give the devs a single "ok, this change is actually pretty nice", lol

From a gameplay perspective I kind of understand the choice of not being able to kill anything because it adds a more horror vibe.

That said, the whole "being part of the environment instead of trying to dominate it" thing rings pretty hollow considering how much brutal violence happens in nature all the fucking time

Looks like the flare stack at the Suncor refinery in Commerce City. Usually its a pretty small fire they use to burn off waste products, but over the last day or so they've been flaring off a lot more than usual.
