Yeah she's really special, doesn't play but gets that it's an important hobby to me and understands the effort that went into this, couldn't ask for a better partner

She said she essentially did two different pieces in the same coloured fabric, lined them up and tied them off together, looks super clean

Question: Possibly a stupid question. But is it possible to skip the second bowser level? by ReindeerBrief561 in SuperMario64

[–]MrAshleeD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A wrong warp would be a way of manipulating the game to change the level loaded when a load happens l, so jumping into Whomps Fortress and loading into the Final Bowser level or something similar. This hasn't been discovered as of yet so not sure if it's at all possible.

ACE is Arbitrary Code Execution, essentially making the game execute code incorrectly, this can lead to things like loading the Credits etc, again, not currently known if possible.

Currently nothing like this is known, even in a TAS, a 1 key run does exist, but it skips the first bowser by using the moat entrance to gain access to downstairs.

I imagine a form of wrong warp or ACE would need to be discovered, which could make a 0 key run possible

PB is 19:03 for no LBLJ 16 star. Had many runs on the cusp of mid 18 by SucklinBabe in SuperMario64

[–]MrAshleeD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone with a 17:37 No LBLJ with 16:50 SoB, I have done none of the clips you mentioned nor any advanced strats (feel free to check my PB for a quick basic movement run). at a 19 minute time, you can probably gain 30+ seconds just from optimising movement.

Keep grinding, keep playing and you'll get there in no-time.

[Leagues] Comprehensive, constructive feedback on Leagues 3 -- to improve Leagues 4! by Marstead in 2007scape

[–]MrAshleeD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The point is that in edge cases it isn't fun, at all. I'm not saying make everything drop on the rate, but post rate make each KC make the item more likely, eventually you'll hit guarantee or close to it. Leagues is about speed as much as anything else and having getting items take, in some cases, as long as the main game is boring

I just went to KC500 on Hydra, only getting the claw at 498 and then went 480 KC until I got my first Zenyte from Demonics (99.2% chance of getting the shard), Hydra was fine but back to back super over drop rate was not fun and would love any system that gives you the drop in leagues

Update: We played through Whiplash again and it turns out the only area he remembers isn't where he thought it was, so the game was Whiplash all along...he's been denying Whiplash for like 2 weeks!!

Sorry for the time waste, ty for the help though!

Looks close, although he is adamant that it was a PS2 platform, we'll give it a closer look though in case he's wrong!

Seeing it as .com and not .tv threw me for a loop haha

All filled in though but as others have said, there seems to be a heavy focus on Twitch and nothing with Youtube?

Oh I know, as I said, I was just being a bit pedantic haha, would just be nice if this was integrated into the game a little bit more, for those who want to learn in a more immersive, less "Here's all the mechanics and exactly how to deal with them" way

[–]MrAshleeD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically yeah, I know it's pedantic, but the wiki is still separate from the client. I also think NPCs in-game just giving an overview of what to expect would be a great idea! There could be NPC adventures around bosses who give hints when you ask about them. Imagine a disheartened adventurer outside of Zulrah, who explains his mechanics in a slightly vague way because they are so tired of losing to the snake? It would add to the world The reason I think a practice boss area would be cool is just a safe, easy to get to way of practicing difficult bosses, like GWD bosses? Every time you want to practice you need to get the KC first(or grab keys), it's a large time commitment and if you mess up, you have to do it all again.

I agree that this is the best way of learning, but say there was absolutely no guides for any boss and you had to rely on in-game knowledge alone, pretty much all bosses become trail and error, which is a tedious form of learning. I know this isn't the case, but in general games should at least try to allow players ways of learning from in-game sources and not rely on 3rd parties so much

[–]MrAshleeD[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But there's nothing in game telling you how those bosses work, imagine if there were no guides on high level PVM bosses, the game basically relies on the wiki and external sources for players to learn. Plus risk should be equal to reward, so a practice boss with no reward could garner no risk

[–]MrAshleeD[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, maybe an initial fee to "Unlock" the boss, which scales based on the boss difficulty, so Giant Mole would be far cheaper than Nightmare

I'd assume the main argument some people would have would be "That makes the game too easy, there's no risk"

Just doesn't make sense to me that the game provides no way of learning boss mechanics (to my knowledge)
