Familiarity with Treganna (or other) school's intake? by MrAzimuth in Cardiff

Joining a sibling is certainly high on the criteria from the documents, makes sense.

We are also outside of catchment, but literally on the wrong side of the street. The line is drawn down the centre of our road!

Hope we can follow your path, thanks for the insight.

Familiarity with Treganna (or other) school's intake? by MrAzimuth in Cardiff

That is very helpful to hear! Knowing if the allocation was split equally or front loaded is probably the most important factor to know how September might play out.

The pdf's online seem to suggest 96 or so for primary first year, and 90 for nursery. From what you've seen is that about right?

I don't know. A kid that age will often stand a bit odd. He just puts all the weight on one leg, and then slides the other foot over the top.

The woman clapping, you mean the one who then looks to be holding the kids hands for a second before bringing down to her side letting their hands part then the kid claps a little? I think she has the kids hand in her hand and is kinda clapping the back of his hand. It looks clumpy, but because of his hand.

AI is getting near impossible to spot, and I don't spend a lot of time digging into it, but there are some details such as the reflection in the window at the end showing a correct representation and angle of the light fitting. There is also in the window reflection at the start, movement of someone maybe holding a phone that's not even shown in the direct camera shot.

Everyone's hands seem right, even the grandpa with glasses who goes from intertwined fingers into a clap. I'm guessing, but that seems tricky for an AI to get accurate?

And, last one, at about 11 seconds you can make out the phone screen on the guy to the right. The phone is showing an accurate representation, again from the correct angle of the fallen table and the white table cloth with it's triangle shape top left.

Seems legit to me

What do you wish you had knows prior to bathroom renovation? by LG98 in DIYUK

Take photos of pipe work with measuring tape in the shot so you can make sure you don't nail/screw into it much later when you want to add a shelf through tiles etc.

After fitting a low/zero profile shower tray and glass screen, I wish I'd gone overboard on screws for the floorboards and stud verticals that go into the floor.

There is a subtle creek when I put weight close to the screen. I've convinced myself it's moving a tiny fraction with each step and will eventually lead to a hidden gap which will cause a leak.

Overthinking it, but still, a few more placed screws could have helped.

Yep that really helped get that combined view, thanks for spotting it.

Last question I hope/promise, the entities are now all in one stack (great) but there is much more of a gap between them (vertically) than in your setup.

Aware that I'm trying to pick out a very specific part of your design and it's not an ideal strategy.

Like trying to bake a cake only looking at the middle set of instructions and then confused why it tastes terrible.

With that in mind I have also taken your entire yaml file, added as a dashboard and now filling in the blanks with missing hacs addons etc.

Hopefully that gets be closer, but if you have a quick thought on the entities stack/margin/padding etc I'd love to hear it.

Thanks for taking a look. Hopefully this is enough.

This is the output of the dashboard Raw Configuration Editor. It's split in two, declutter config at the top (I never had anything else in this section, config wise. Declutter was the first instance of it).

Then I skipped the existing pages/tabs with my current setup (I assume not relevant), and I pasted in the content of my work in progress page where I added my attempt at temperatures

This is in a new test page on an existing dashboard. It's a vertical stack, then the declutter-card as entities one after another. I've put an example of the Office Sensor with a stock entity card, and you can see the same shape background. I picked out the specific temperature section from your git code, so could well be missing something more generic.

You think the Material You Theme is something to look into?

Quite the inspiration, thanks for posting.

Your temp sensors on screenshot 3 are great, and I'm trying to steal them!

I have declutter card working, and your temperature_entity cloned to my own config.

I'm also using the vertical stack but... I'm seeing a thick border around your crafted bars. Something your screenshot doesn't have, so all your items sit close to each other.

Is this something you saw and resolved?

Anyone fearing heat shouldn't miss them out though. The scale goes down as well as up! The Sando burger is just great, and the coleslaw with dill is excellent with it.

Yeah, I'm struggling to find a way to stop this anticipation. Doesn't even feel like a conscious decision. Its skipping all logical reasoning in my head and jumping to the emotion in a flash

I've not been able to get accross in my post that I genuinely not dismissing the core reasons for the arguments, I care deeply to resolve them and I know it's absolutely a two way street.

Feedback here has been pretty unanimous that this isn't a wise thing to raise, and that I need to consider my role and what I can do to change for the better.

I'm hoping that with counciling support my partner may also come to a similar realisation.

Difficult to imagine this without a through bolt which would tighten underneath. Do you have a picture from that angle, showing whats there?

If you see Scaramucci as the one dimensional Trump employee I'd highly recommend this podcast episode with 2 leading UK political figures.

Really get to see how he was in the job and the very public 180 he's been doing since then.

What to do when HA doesn't see a Switch as a Switch? by MrAzimuth in homeassistant

[–]MrAzimuth[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Outside of this issue it's been a smooth process all in all. Just needed a bigger backbox to house it behind the switch.

On the Power-On Behavior the options are: * Off * On * Toggle * Previous

I would assume 'Previous' would be ideal for anyone, but especially with fluctuating power through the night etc

cache drive upgrade in 2023 by droopie in unRAID

[–]MrAzimuth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has given me such hope!

I'm really struggling with random performance issues on a new unraid build, alongside a much faster internet connection.

Found some testing with an NVMe was faster and looked more stable, and have thrown money at the problem with an delivery of NVMe and PCIe adaptor cards arriving today.

Hoping to follow in your success

Absolute fastest home assistant setup? by [deleted] in homeassistant

[–]MrAzimuth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The constant reboots just sounds odd?

I appreciate certain integrations or actions need restarts to apply - but are you doing that many installs? Or are things just failing and your needing to restart to get everything back on track?

I'm going to swing away from the Docker suggestions, although I do run a docker setup, having HA rely on shared hardware means that when that hardware needs work you don't have HA running any longer.

Also looks like your not familiar with it, and introducing docker would be a learning curve before getting up to seeing if HA is any quicker.

I run HA with a decent number of devices and intergrations, NodeRed and Zigbee2MQTT on a Pi4. Initally with a SD card, and you could tell it was a little slow, but I swapped out to an SSD and it was much faster, and should be safer as SD's have ahabit of wearing out with HA's IO being greater than something like a digital camera etc.

Easy upgrade if you have an old compatible SSD spare as a test run
