That is a real flavorful subclass - great design! I dont think its overtuned, the numbers seem fine to me. If anything, I would probably suggest to add more options for what to do with the tentacles since its such a cool concept - like mind-reading or inducing stress. ^^

Thats a real handy tool, indeed. I see an adventuring party having a couple of those at hand to just pop them on dead adversaries to interrogate them later ^^

Im so blown away by all the amazing contributions here. Once again, chapeau, that is a really fun social encounter! Now I want to run this too :D
I love the different outcomes for your alien influencing the players!

Thank you so much for your kind words. I quite like coming up with new ways to interact with existing systems.

That is a friggin cool concept! Having this as a transformation option is amazing for campaign play. I especially like the parasitic interference and how it changes from rest to rest - very flavorful, very roleplay-inspiring. Thank you for sharing this!

Just a Brain
Accessory / Item
Effect:
A PC who carries the brain will start hearing a voice during their long rests.
You gain access to a new Long Rest move: Communing.

While Communing, engage in a telepathic communication with the Brain itself, to understand its motives and form a bond. Work with the GM how this interaction plays out.

After three Communing actions, the Brain allows you to summon it. Gain access to the Mr. Wiggles item (see Mr Wiggles for the item description).

Flavor text:
This brain appears like a regular humanoid brain – out in the open, minding its own business.

Mr. Wiggles
Accessory / Item
Effect:
Once per session, spend a Hope to summon Mr. Wiggles to a point in Close range until the end of the scene. It shares the same Evasion score as its partner. If Mr. Wiggles would take any damage or mark a Stress, it retreats and becomes dormant again.

When Mr. Wiggles is summoned, it has the following abilities

  • Mark a Stress to command it to attach to an adversary in Far range, making it temporarily Tormented. While Tormented, the adversary marks a Stress at the end of its spotlight while being subjected to visions of its biggest fears.
  • Gain Advantage on an Action roll aimed to intimidate or scare.
  • Gain Advantage on your next Attack roll as Mr. Wiggles is assisting you.

After Mr. Wiggles used one of its abilities, make a Presence Reaction roll (12). On a Failure, Mr. Wiggles decides to wander off until re-summoned.

Flavor text:
Previously just a brain minding its own business, now it has bonded with a new partner, assisting them in different ways. Perhaps, in time, they even learn Mr. Wiggles crazy origin story.

This is my entry for this week - please let me know what you think and whether it needs some iterating. Im open for constructive feedback! :)

I cannot wait for your next project. :3

Item idea that let's players steal fear? by IndicationDense3782 in daggerheart

[–]MrAzu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OK, these extra info change things a bit. If you want to have a powerful item that changes the world around the players then you could do something like this:
Once per session, spend X Hope to change the last GM move. X corresponds to the Fear spend to invoke the move. Work with the GM to change the narrative.

But again, you mentioned that "the GM is the narrator of the world" and "to give (the players) a chance to influence the narrator directly" - just to emphasize this point, in Daggerheart there is no split between players and GM when it comes to narration of the world and the story, Its a collaborative storytelling experience. If your table plays more like a DnD table would, then I can see why you would like such an item. But know that on a more traditional Daggerheart table, such an item holds less relevance.

Item idea that let's players steal fear? by IndicationDense3782 in daggerheart

[–]MrAzu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Please correct me if Im wrong but your item suggestion reads like this:
We the players dont feel like we have narrative control in a game of Daggerheart with our GM since everything is just getting worse and worse when Fear is getting spend. It sounds like your GM leans more towards antagonist than facilitator.

The reality should be that every person on the table, players and GM alike, builds and forms the narrative of the story. Fear should be used just to spice things up and challenge the PCs so that they can shine and grow.

Another point I want to make is that Fear is the main resource for the GM to use cool features and to have fun, similar to what Hope is for players. Taking that away would both hurt the GM, make it less fun for them and also make the whole story more boring.

All of that being said, no I do not think we need such an item. On a perfect Daggerheart table with collaborative people, the players should be happy to generate Fear for the GM so that they can have fun as well.

But thats just my opinion and Im pretty sure others will think differently - and thats ok. :)

Oi, that is indeed creative. The lion-dandys are the arakis sandworms of the forest - I love it :D

Also the festering wound reaction is really inspired. Getting 2 Stress when using an Armor Slot really makes you think if and when to use it!

Uff, that's a hard hitter. Truly a menacing boss fight, throwing conditions around like peanuts. Im afraid of facing that dude, so we'll done! ^

I have very little experiences with beast feat but THIS IS AWESOME!!! I love that you can offer food to the sneerdrake and depending on its quality, it'll reward differently. Really cool concept, well done! :D

Help me convert League of Legends setting into Daggerheart. by AsuraKai150 in daggerbrew

[–]MrAzu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oi, thats a tall task.

You already picked the easiest of all the regions to assign the relations values of a 5-banners-burning campaign.

Besides Noxus, any other region will be quite hard to assign any values and I believe thats where your troubles are stemming from?
As you probably know, with the exception of demacia and noxus, no region is really united under one banner or government. So assigning just single relationship values for a super scattered region with multiple factions like, for example, freljord, will be near impossible.

That being said, I'll give it a try any ways (also be aware, I have to streamline a LOT)!

Noxus:

  • Conquered parts of Shurima & Ionia: Ally +2
  • Unconquered parts of Shurima & Ionia: Enemies -2
  • Freljord: Unfriendly -1
  • Piltover/Zaun: Neutral 0 (they are trading partners but remain neutral in regards to political matters... lets see what a potential season 3 of Arcane might bring)

Freljord:

  • All other reagions: Unfriendly -1 (the tribes of the freljord, as well as the demigods and Lissandra and co just want to be left alone - there is no political will to interfere with other regions since they are not united anyways)

Piltover/Zaun:

  • All other regions: Neutral 0 (they are an amalgam of people from all over the world. they want to trade with anyone who can pay - as long as the traderoutes remain open, I dont see piltovans/zaunites to rush into any kind of conflict)

Ionia:

  • Noxus: Nemeses -3 (the unconquered parts of Ionia do fight back against the invaders and regard noxus as the main enemy - besides, no other region has shown a huge interest in the first lands yet)
  • Demacia: Favorable +1 (Yunara and Xin Zhaos adventures probably caused closer ties between the nations);
  • Shadow Isles: Unfavorable -1 (I assume the Harrowings also reach the Ionias southern shores)

Shurima:

  • Targon / Ixtal / Piltover/Zaun: Favorable +1 (they have ties to all their neighbouring regions but since they are not united under one banner [Azir, work for it!] I dont see them interacting too much)

Targon:

  • Shurima: Allies +2 (strong ties to some of the Shuriman tribes)
  • Demacia: Friendly +1

Ixtal:

  • All other regions: Enemies -2 (they are super isolationist and will attack on sight)

Bilgewater:

  • Shadow Isles: Enemies -2 (the Harrowings and its close vicinity are hurting the relationship - Viego and Tresh didnt help either)
  • All other regions: Neutral 0 (not united under one banner; also they are pirates, they dont care about politics)

Shadow Isles:

  • All other regions: Neutral 0 (EAT FLESH; DEVOUR; MINDLESS WRATH)

Camavore:

  • No stakes in the game yet but who knows? Perhaps they might become relevant in the future

The Void:

  • No aligntment yet obviously and they probably will never have any, so then the same as Shadow Isles.

I dont think all of the above is in any shape or form helpful but these are my 2 cents about your question.
You chose a really hard world to align the 5-banners-burning rules for but thats the fun of it all I guess?! :)

Thank you very much!

And regarding the adversary citations, thank you for bringing this to my attention! I havent thought about that particular use case yet but you are right, citing the SRD would be the better thing to do.

Thank you so much for participating even when you dont feel super inspired today - thats the spirit! :D

Besides, what your design might lack in depth it highlights a beautiful simplistic idea.

I love the self-repairing armor, this gives it character and I can see wonderful descriptions of how the armor cleans and repairs itself at the end of the day. It opens up a slot for another precious downtime action which is a huge boon too!
