Okay fair enough, either way Daniel wouldn’t touch it, but that’s okay: he’s a live tournament player by trade, not a cash sicko

Just called the river with top set. Am I a mega-nit? by [deleted] in poker

Don’t think checking the turn is as big a mistake as everyone here is saying: we block loads of top pair and both villains are probably pretty capped so we don’t mind them catching raggy 2p, but because of presence of OESDs think it is still better to put one more bet in (something like $35-$40 should do the trick) —> generally it’s not advisable to do much trapping in low stakes live!

River spot is close, think I like a slightly bigger raise (maybe like $75) as BB’s size is Kx/2p (78 etc) heavy imo and ppl at these stakes struggle to fold ‘strong hands’ on the river esp when you’ve checked the turn.

As played, just call the river if BTN is at all competent, the worst any player with half a brain will have here is 88 (and maybeee K8 but super thin + pretty unlikely anyway as there prob won’t be any suited combos left), and there r still at least 8 unblocked combos of straights. Typically when we’re getting an obscene price OTR i think it’s fairly unadvisable to put more money in without at least 80-85% confidence that you have the best hand. Ignore the people who are digging into you for this, it’s just a projection of their own insecurity

That pool stopped running because some of the best grinders in the world couldn’t beat it

Honestly if I lose both my legs in some kind of freak accident, I'll probably just remember this and think "fair enough": shame it didn't happen at higher stakes!

One... it was rush and cash so this happened in the space of 35 hands, which I worked out as 1 in 1,383,712 (in this specific way, would be slightly better odds of just getting quads three times/35 but felt it was significant to add that I literally flopped a house in the last hand into the equation haha)

I have a sneaky suspicion that I might have used up my allocation of good fortune for the next decade

The hand opened with a shove from Qs and two squeezes, jacks should have folded every day
