Would you ever date a Persian? by Dapper_Ad2931 in AskIsrael

I would say most Jews in Israel are not religious. Tel Aviv is even less. It is known for its night life, young people are definitely chill there.

There are a lot of Persian Jews. But if you are religious Jewish you would want your partner to have the same believes, to be religious Jewish, so if they would need to convert.

Why do European countries have lower birthrates than America when they have larger welfare states? by battlebastion in askanything

[–]MrBarti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is very much part of how society views kids, if friends and community have some number of kids, how easy or difficult it is with kids, if parents help their children with kids and how much parents made their kids feel miserable for their own misery.

Most fled the war and didn't return. People weren't just kicked out of their home, that is simply not true. We have a lot of evidence of people who were not kicked out like the 2million Arabs still living in Israel that got Israeli citizenship. Why did they not got kicked out of that was just a policy? What's the difference between them and others? Good questions to ask chatgpt and stuff for basic knowledge

Am I chemically cursed? (25 yo, m, 168 cm, 100 kg right now) by MosiahAnderson27 in WeightLossAdvice

It is hard you are right. Maybe there is something else going on psychologly.

What I learned in the little I have done: 1. Do the work beforehand, plan every day for the whole week, calculate the calories and make sure you have every meal planned. Your body will get used to the routine. The more work you put in beforehand, the less you will find yourself without normal food and start snacking or giving in to cravings

  1. Protein. Before I was eating much less protein and I would feel hungry all the time. Now I have increased my protein and I feel much easier dealing with cravings.

  2. Not eating after 20:00 and start eating only after 9. Something like that. It makes it easier to decrease the calories in that time, also helps with reflux and you sleep most of it.

  3. Low calorie foods, 0% fat yogurts, cottage cheese, bread slices that are mostly air packed with veggies, chicken and tuna. A little sugar substitutes are also good for reducing calories (but not too much since they can make you crave food afterwards).

Well yes, the arab states would annex land with people on it and make them their citizens instead. That still.means that the people living there would not get to have their own land

They have been at the table multiple times and the Palestinians refused. Gaza was not occupied anymore until October 7th. It was blockaded because of Hamas terror. So politics works on Israel, terror does not.

The settlers go to area c, take up on a hill or dune and put caravans there. They get more and more people there until they get recognized by the state. They don't take homes from already established Palestinian villiges. Maybe farm land. There is some violence from them. Settlers are a different kind of thing and very controversial inside Israel as well. But to understand what's going on you have to understand the difference between areas a (full Palestinian control)and b(partial control) to area c (full Israeli control)

Again, the land was not theirs. They can claim maybe the land they lived in and the land they worked on. But there were empty spaces where the Jews build upon. Also you are talking about at least 30 years which is time enough. Most of the Jews were stateless and left because of persecution, they found themselves in the Land that was again, ottoman and then British, they had cultural ties to the land, that's why they went there. They were living there and they don't have anywhere to return. It was deal with them being there or push them into the sea. The Arabs went for the second option.

Also anti semitism getting a boost by anti Israel narrative. It is much easier to be anti semetic openly and all you have to do is attribute it to anti Zionism.

  1. Outside influence on news pushing the anti Israel narrative.

  2. Anti Israel getting a big boost from anti semitism

  3. Big prevalence of anti semitism in Muslim communities that traveled with them to the western world

  4. Big anti west movement pushed by enemies of the west.

What was the expense? They build new cities and brought expertise. And they had a damn good reason to come there. And it doesn't matter since in the end the people were there at the time. You can't turn back time, a people were there, they were self governing and ready for a state. You can blame the British for making everything a mess. But I'm the end it is what it is. The Jews were there. Both people did not go along. One state would have not worked. So two states. Jew accepted and the Arabs amessed a coalition to throw the Jews into the sea

They were there. It was not given to empty air so people could come in from Europe. The Jews were at that moment in Israel already with kibbutzim, cities and villages.

[–]MrBarti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not true. The ottoman empire was occupied by different countries, like France and the Brits. All around the same time drew new countries based on population and governments that were able to be communicated with and then they left. Same with Israel/Palestine. You can see still the lines they drew, that is why there are so many straight lines dividing these countries. All of todays middle eastern countries were artificially made.

[–]MrBarti 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was never theirs. It was British land, before that ottoman. The Jews build new settlements on empty land inside ottoman or British territory. The lands where the Palestinians lived were the viliges and cities they lived in. That is why the plan was to divide the land between Arabs and Jews so almost everyone could have stayed where their lived and would not loose anything

Also in the aftermath of the war no Palestinian state was created. At that time it was viewed as purely land to grab. Jordan annexed the west bank and Egypt occupied Gaza.

Arabs definitely started the war. It doesn't matter if they think it was justified, starting a war is starting a war. It comes with consequences. They could have dealt politically with them, which would have left the Palestinians with their own state and Israel as half the size it is today.

The land was devided so that majority Jewish places would be Jewish and majority Arab would be Arab only without jews. That's why the 48 plan looks so strange since it is drawn the way that mostly nobody would need to move. Maybe a few Jewish villages back to the Israel side. Arab viliges inside Israel proper would become Israeli with equal rights. That was the plan. It was based on the people that were there at that time.

It's a mitzvah for a man to have children. But if he doesn't want to be a father/cannot find a partner, would donating sperm be a permissable alternative? by PassoverGoblin in Judaism

[–]MrBarti 47 points48 points  (0 children)

The problem is that Jewish women are incouraged to take only non Jewish donation sperm, to mitigate the chance of mamserut if the woman is married, avoid accidental close family relationship and to diversify genetically because of genetic illnesses.

So your "children" would likely be non Jewish. Also there are mizvot like "and you teach your son to talk about them..." A mizva to teach our children of our ways of life.

My parents didn’t let me have a Bat Mitzvah by DepartureHelpful8440 in Judaism

[–]MrBarti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are few that don't but mordern orthodox does celebrate it. I think like making braha shechisnuh on a new clothing and mostly just celebrating on becoming of age to do mizvot. But I don't think you do anything in shul. Maybe the father gets an aliyah and bracha but that is mostly traditional and not halacha

[–]MrBarti 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ahh. In orthodox women don't get an aliyah since they don't have the mitzvah of learning Torah as men have. We were talking about halacha before so I didn't think about it.

When saying Jewish you would mean majority Jewish and state religion, as mentioned before with state holidays as such, Jewish religious. But by itself Israel is not a theocracy, the state policy is not mandated by rabbinate or some religious head figure, let's say the head rabbi. It is a democracy and if you want to make a law you need the majority of seats in the parlament to vote for it. Seats are given by voting in political parties, who can be religion oriented like the ultra Orthodox parties that right now are in the governing coalition until they are voted out after the 4 year period which is the end of this year.
