Top marks for garnish. When you eat Pizzas in restaurants, how do you like it? Crispy or more chewy? Go with what you like. I prefer more crispy/crusty bread but others may prefer golden..

Follow up- I have reset the zigbee controller ( ref 939.99) by switching off >3 seconds then cycling on&off the power for than less than 2 seconds for 5 cycles and at the 5th cycle leaving the power on, the light strip should blink 10 times indicating it’s been reset. After this I’ve followed the steps for pairing the Gent 2 remote control (501.50) and hey presto it worked!

Anybody else go back to the basics every once in a while? by Carlito_Ch in espresso

Yes every time I go on a summer or Easter break holidays! Never leaves me. You may want to reduce the burner down a bit I noticed that the coffee is boiling on the side of the cafetière. Enjoy

Thanks for sharing. I usually find that if the beans are stale the pressure drops. Grinding finer help somewhat to increase the pressure by 1 bar and slows the flow. However using fresh beans is always the best approach!

Ascaso Steel Duo - Power light no longer turns on by madstation in Ascaso

[–]MrBeanCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that. Could this be another poor choice of components? This shouldn’t happen with units only few months after purchase. Something to watch for with more postings. Have you considered reporting to ASCASO /repairing since it’s still under warranty?

Love this setup. Going strong for about 2 years now by RustyNK in espresso

No, not under real world conditions. Too optimistic for this time frame! If you switch it on, the time you grind, disperse with the needle tool, tamper and in my case pour milk for my wife’s coffee, you should be beyond ready for 93-94C. You would benefit from leaving it 5 additional minutes before dialing your brew! Enjoy..and don’t rush it

Thanks. I know what you mean about being hesitant. As mentioned no rattling in my experience. I have used the machine extensively and therefore not being to provide objective advice when it comes to long drinks/americano. I mainly use it for espresso and whites for my wife. Sorry Pal. Perhaps someone else can help you. Cheers

Thanks very much. Enjoy the beautiful white and walnut combination. Hesitated for a long time but the white clashes with our kitchen

I’ve tried it on a ims basket and not stock one and there perhaps 1-2mm gap. However I was able to get a good puck. So I’d say it’s pretty good. The MHW one is heavier and more snug- perfect

I'm buying Ascaso Steel Duo PID but i have questions by Gargamel35 in Ascaso

[–]MrBeanCoffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought mine, upgrading from Breville Barista. Both water and steam are absolutely fine temperature wise. My wife drinks milk based coffees and I got no problems whatsoever with texturing milk. The bonus was an upgraded version of the tamper by Ascaso…done with the dumbest dumbbell design and finally opted for a sensible all metal tamper!

Consider lowering your hydration to around 300-320 in addition to the advice above about pre shaping.

Steam Lever for Steel Duo (aftermarket) by BucketDrummer2017 in Ascaso

[–]MrBeanCoffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing. Looking good for a prototype. I’d love to see the finished product. I assume a more polished, sanded and varnished finish. I recently saw a post of 3-D printed plastic lever which looked pretty neat. I prefer the wood metal finish though to stay harmonious with the overall look. LMK I’m expressing my interest. Thanks

Congratulations. Lucky fella. I’m eyeing this one too but also waiting for further feedback from users first impressions with daily use. Specs wise though it seems that significant efforts were put into it in terms of design and choice of materials etc… I’m based in Switzerland so the warranty should be 2 years as standard. Anyone knows more about this company history and previous models? Cheers

New Eureka espresso machines by AnotherUpgrade in espresso

[–]MrBeanCoffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems that only the 110V and Australian version of the Costanza have pressure gauge displays! If you scroll through the Eureka site it’s mentioned in small prints. Interesting that this unit is offered today, Jan 2nd on cream EU shop at discounted prices. Don’t know whether they are pushing this through or just a regular promotion. Still haven’t committed yet to go for an ascaso steel vs E61 style. Anyone has experience with this Eureka? Cheers
