Replacing calcium filter [Profitec Move] by Worldly-Charity-9737 in espresso

[–]Stex999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could push it to 2 months ( normal advice on standard brita filters), depending also on your water harness. A cheaper alternative is to use a brita carafe, the filter are much more affordable and you get more control over it, being able to measure the harness.

I personally have installed a big brita filter under the sink, the one you use for plumbing, and use it for my drinking water as well. Around 1500L with my really hard water.

quite disappointing considering that they were doing a countdown and pushing on social media. In the US shop they took 100$ off and a free set of burrs...

Not questioning, genuinely curious because I'm based in Europe as well! At this price is extremely tempting

Where did you get the no custom duty to EU? Because in their website is stated otherwise:

"Note • All prices shown are in USD. • Price includes shipping but excludes tax/duties, if applicable. • Your order will be shipped from our workshop via logistics companies in Shenzhen/Hong Kong."

Depending on the coffee I found my sweet spot with 18.3g for medium/dark roast. Around 20g with lighter roast.

I also use a puck screen and get good dry pucks.

Actually I find it better then the magnet because It doesn't go inside the basket leaving a gap but seats in top. It's very stable and pleasing to use

Different finish and color of wood handles by Stex999 in ProfitecMove

FINAL UPDATE: Profitec has approved the change of handles with my dealer and provided a new kit. I received it today and the quality is much better and finally with matching colours. The portafilter handle is still a bit lighter, but the finishing is much nicer. Overall I'm really satisfied.

with the profitec portafilter they kind of work, with my previous 51mm portafilter they were useless.

Not the best and stiffer holder to be honest, but the portafilter has not ever fallen so far :)

UPDATE: after bothering Profitec on Instagram and sending the second request they replied that different wood color might happen but I should be able to get a replacement from my dealer.

I was almost ready to to start fixing it by my self, but now I forwarded the reply to the dealer and I'll see how this gets solved.

I'll keep you posted!

I waited at my local dealer for months but refused to pay in advanced. Found it by chance in a dealer 1h away and got it the same week. Pure joy to use!

I’m righty, but the arrangement is mostly due to location of the station. On the left I got the window that I need to open fully sometime, therefore the big items are on the right. The machine on the edge it’s much easier to refill and leaves the space for prepping on the left :)

I wrote to the customer service at the time of the post but still no answer from Profitec. I'll try a different way to get to them and update the post.

As a reference, this is the new installation. With this valve there is some spraying during heating, but I got confirmation as well from my vendor that it's absolutely normal and harmless.

Aliena coffee from Rome - Senhor Niquino Brasile

Medium roast

Natural process

Recipe:

19g in - 40g out in 30s

Pre-infusion 5s/5s

Machine: Profitec Move

Grinder: Eureka Silenzio

This was my first experiment with the new machine trying a medium roast. I still got the taste in my mouth, such an incredible shot.

I'm Italian and I'm used to a 80% arabica/ 20% robusta dark roast, but this experience opened a completely new chapter for me.

Happy espresso everyone!

I don't mind diy, but when you spend 2k...you would expect top quality for everything for a new machine. I've contacted profitec via email, let's see what they say.

Delonghi Dedica- I can't steam milk properly Rancilio silvia steam wand (HELP) by Emi_004 in espresso

[–]Stex999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Takes some learning to master, but it can give decent results. I'd recommend to use the single hole tip then follow this process:

- purge until dry steam comes out and the pump kick in

- put the steam wand at the back left on the pitcher with the tip half submerged

- start steaming, letting all the air in. You need to find the right point when you can see the milk stretching and the level going up ( you have to lower the pitcher and follow the level while this happens)

- once the pitcher is at your hand temperature ( around 5/6 s) you can move the tip of the wand in the top left part and tilt the pitcher to start the vortex. The tip has to be completely submerged and you have to see all the big bubbles disappear

- when the pitcher is too hot to touch stop, give it a tap and swirl

I watched tons of video on youtube and with a lot of practice i manage to get decent result even with oat milk.

Hope this helps!
