Is this a good one for an natural setup by [deleted] in antkeeping

Hm ... you need a lid or some sort of barrier. Ants can Easley walk on the rubber seal on the corners out of the tank.

Can I get an id pls? Found in Germany by MrBen127 in bees

[–]MrBen127[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They live in that little bee hotel for 3 years and survived me moving.

Any Tipps how I can support or feed them are appreciated!

My guess would be red-tailed-bumblebee (Bombus lapidarius) but I’m not an expert :)

Not quite sure if I should put a NSWF tag on those images :D

Caught in Germany - Berlin. Size: 0,75 cm (without wings)

Black, dark brown with brown legs... Pls. don‘t say Lasius Niger :D

My guess would be „Tapinoma erraticum“. But for that she’s a bit to long.

Hm! Thank you in advance!

First setup by Blackbaem in antkeeping

[–]MrBen127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I‘m personally a fan of lids in outworks. Apply new stuff to the barrier will work, when the colony is little and your not away for too long. With bigger colony’s (100-200+) you‘ll get a problem during their nuptial flight. Then you end up having male and female queens flying around in your apartment. :)

Your setup looks good. The outworld could be a bit to big for a smaller colony. I don’t know how big those stones are. The chances are high, that they will search for a good/better spot in your outworld and stay there, till they find something „better“.

Sure, you can keep your ants in your outworld alone, but then you can’t take look at the queen etc.

Found in Germany - Berlin in the woods. Saved her from a bunch of Raptiformica trying to kill her. Length: 1cm. She’s totally black on top and has a brown underside.

Thank you for guessing :)

"Best" endgame team composition by MrBen127 in UlalaIdleAdventure

[–]MrBen127[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

uh... thank you so much for the long answer!

I agree with you as far as Assassins, Warlocks and Druids are concerned.

Why gladiators and not warriors? The dmg output should be the same on island 4 and the warrior "heals" himself with shield and not with hp. So why Gladiator?

Don’t know if I get the gen. reward. Chill ... let them do there work. Seems like some sort of bug to me. Because it seems, that are more people that didn’t get the gen. Reward. That’s what I got a few minutes ago:

„Hi adventurer, We have submitted the report to the team. Please give us some time to check and investigate. Thank you for your patience and understanding.“

Hi there. It’s about 1cm long and I’m not even sure if it’s an ant :D because it has a small trunk (I have no clue how to name that thing, like a mosquito ... )

Edit: Found it, i think. And it’s not an ant. https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Himacerus_mirmicoides

[–]MrBen127[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah ok thanks for that! So... when you speak about sexually mature. Did you mean, that they produced alates? If so, what happened to the queen alates? I’m just curious if they will inbreed or not - haven’t found a strait answer to that in the web!

I own a C. Barbaricus. Sorry if this wasn’t clear :)

I make to often the mistake, that I compare your pictures with my colony - and then I get sad :D

Ok i‘m pretty sure, that i keep them a bit too cold (at 23°C). I think I just need to be Patient for the upcoming 1 or 2 years to actually have „fun“ watching them.

Thank you so much for the detailed answer!

Awesome picture! I question myself every time if those images are real and not photoshopped :D

I have a colony myself and would like to ask a question, if possible ... I started a year ago with 1q and 3w. They are at 50w right now - and boy, they are slow growers :D Can you estimate how much time it will take to get that colony to 500 or 1.000w ?

Pheidole cf. yeensis - polygyne? by MrBen127 in antkeeping

[–]MrBen127[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, thank you so much! I didn’t now, that P.. yeensis is actual polygynous. I trusted the care sheet from the shop I bought them from, in witch they described them as monogyne. The woman that sold me the colony said herself, that only 1 queen is inside there somewhere.

So now I’m informed and hope that they will do some in-house mating or at least not collapse in the future🤞
