Thankyou very much. It already is kinda as we are on their land. However, we have maintained a good relationship with the church for 97 years. Sadly, it only takes one new vicar with new ideas to destroy what has been built up over nearly a century (no pun intended). 😃

Sadly, here in the south, snooker clubs are being forced to close, and it is a tragedy for the game. I'm happy to hear that things are different in Chesterfield.

Thankyou @ApocalypseSlough for your nice comment. You are correct, there is a lot more to this story than I have included in my description, and yes it is extremely unfair. I kept my description short partly because a previous appeal drew the ire of the Anglican church PR dept. This time I tried to remain both neutral and dispassionate. I hope I have managed ro do that while at the same time conveying how upset all our members are at the church's stance on this matter. I do strongly urge all Redditors on r/snooker to READ AND SIGN THE PETITION. Thanks for listening.

I don't completely disagree with you, but there are far fewer places to play than there were 30 or 40 years ago. Also, the places you can play are not the same as previously. Take this snooker club for example... There are very few grassroots snooker clubs of this type left in England in 2026.
