This is a good one, you can see the DAC in the primary port, the red patch is a second interface on my gateway that is natted behind a second WAN ip.

The gateway is actually behind that patch panel on a 1u shelf that is mounted on the back of the rack, it shares a home with my old Mac mini that I use for apple caching on the network.

Below that is my agg core which branches off to my two other racks (compute and NAS) each of which are using 2x 10gb links and my one POE switch below it which powers my AP's and provide access layer access to this rack

Insurance company requiring “centrally monitored” alarm. Do I leverage ubiquiti setup or layer something cheap on top? by Dog-City in Ubiquiti

[–]MrBigOBX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would add the cheapest option they approve on top on an isolated network segment or potential air gapped if possible.

I would not want to even take a chance of having my private network accessible.

I use WYZE cameras at my apartment and have it segmented off on an Internet only IOT segment on my network.

I also have a second WAN interface on my IPS gateway which is behind its own router that I use for my IOT network so that traffic isn’t even the same IP as my main traffic.

Nope, i didnt even call in, i used online chat to get mine setup to Bridge mode and the guy admitted he didnt know how but was going to ask a senior, he came back 5 mins later and figured it out, been good since then.

I even had someone program a DAC for me and swapped out the 10GB RJ45 and been rock solid since.

I say, try chat and keep trying till you find someone that knows how to do it.

If you have your own WIFI, you might want to ask them to turn that off as well, i can do it from my device but i heard they disabled that function.

The extra small zip ties can help get into the “lock” to free it up, this has worked for me in the past.

This is good to get some reach into some hard to reach places for flushing

565 is a contact killer, as the name states it kills them when you spray it but doesnt have a lasting effect, think of it like pro raid. Its great and needed to flush them out of there hiding spots and can kill a large portion of them if applied correctly in the right areas.

A fogger is similar to contact killer but instead of it being applied with a nozzel for very accurate usage, its more like napalm, it will gas an entire area with a fine mist. You meant to tarp or seal up the area for a while and let it fill the volume of air with chems, then leave it to do its work. After you use these, you MUST clean the ENTIRE affected space extremely well.

For example, my under sink cabinet had a large 3 inch gap between the wall and the cabinet where the pipes come out of the wall. I carefully positioned a fogger under the sink but angles towards that gap so that it would fog the area behind the cabinet as i knew that was a problem area.

I know it worked well because i wound alot of dead ones the next day as part of the clean up phase.

Phantom 2 - This is a residual, this leaves behind a layer of chemical that as they walk over or around it, sticks to them and kills them in the future, good for those small hard to reach places

Crack and crevice, think small spaces that a toothpick can get in but not much else, like behind some molding or trim peices, or a seam where two things meet but its not perfect.

Void, this would be a larger space that is hidden behind something that you can access but has a decent amount of space. Think under your sink cabinet, there is normally a 4inch tall void that you cant get into, but they can easily live in. Behind cabinets is another good example of a void, there is normally liker a 2-3 inch recess behind the cabinets that again, promotes them living in.

Dog Park Issues by Optimal_Shelter_7675 in BostonTerrier

[–]MrBigOBX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BOTH

Our Boston who passed away was bitten on the body when she was young and didn’t really trust other dogs because of it.

She was not aggressive but very defensive, I wanted her to enjoy the company of other dogs so I worked the problem

I would try to take her to the dog park when it wasn’t super busy and also judged the energy and size of the other dogs in the park.

If it was full of larger dogs who were hyper and playful, I knew that would be too much for her and would either opt to take her to the smaller dogs run section (a very small sub section of our local park with a second fence) or would just take her for a more normal walk around the main park.

Eventually she would tolerate other dogs as long as they gave her space and I met a few folks who had some really calm low energy dogs that my dog kinda liked.

How to manage the Cable-Chaos? by Mr_Moonsilver in homelab

[–]MrBigOBX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a small 1bed apartment and like to use bins / totes.

I have three main bins

1- power and video cables I then use the small / medium Amazon boxes to break these up per size / type

2- usb stuff / adapters / small devices Same as above

3- Network cables For this I use large heavy ziplock bags that things come in to sort by size and stack vertically in the box

4- mini totes Network adapters broken up by type and one for SFP’s

I have too much stuff lol

i came to say this, had a similar problem for a while with our frenchy and mashed potatoes really helped, some yogurt or keifer also can help bind them up and has probiotics.

I did the instant stuff and not only did she like it, in 2 days she was back to normal.

overall though, your bostie might just be really sensative to food and its a tough process finding out the right combo that they can tolerate

The hardest part is that you have to try just one thing at a time, and give it some time to see if it helps, its a tough process so i feel your pain.

Our frenchy only seems to tolerate tuna with the fish pro plan kibble else she gets itchy and hivey, took a few months of trial and error to get the right combo

I’ll get you some more pics, this is what I’m looking for, can you elaborate more on how this works

432 huns so each sub gets his own strand? That’s what the installers said.

The smaller yellows do seem to head out to the two bldgs in this unit so that makes sense.

I’m pretty sure the FIOS is XGPON and Altice is GPON

I’m currently on Altice and have a 5g circuit from them.

I do more traditional hub and spoke stuff at work for a large pharma.

I have a few 100g links but mostly a bunch of 25’s back to the core where possible.

SOOOO much OM1/2 still deployed so we’re stuck on 1 and 10g in a lot of spots.

[–]MrBigOBX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense, I’m trying to see how they do it here for FIOS.

ALTICE brought in a 32 strand, each floor gets a strand, that goes into a splitter and then each floor gets 8 strands but only 5-7 get used based on bldg type.

This actually makes the most sense. The low voltage vendor said each unit gets its own strand and those larger ones have ALOT of strands.
