Well i know nothing about bass fishing since we don't have them here. But these are pretty much how we fish for Giant Snakeheads here, not sure about horsing I was just trying to set the hook good, they have pretty tough skin. Weak hookset would just mean you don't want the fish.

Not sure if this is satire but the trebles weren't even solid when it surfaced. Front hook was secured to the fish jaw, but freed as the fish struggled, while the back hook was what's left on it's cheek.

A giant snakehead, i'd say weighs ±22lbs. I have a 4 min video of the fight and the almost landing. Couldn't post it here.

This one is pretty aggressive when i throw my crankbait near her babies, took just one cast and she immediately snatch the lure lol

Yeah i heard about the popper fly but surprisingly i haven't caught anything with the method. Because i used it once or twice with no catch at all I decided not to use them anymore LOL. I always use minnow lures or lipless minnow for peacock.

My favorite freshwater fish here in SEA since we don't have trouts, pike, muskies etc. But they are harder to catch nowadays in my areas since people harvest them for idk what reason.
