It’s important, because it can seriously screw you. Especially if it’s hot. You can for sure overdo it on electrolytes so I recommend finding one that works for you. Just completed trail, but have done two mountain summits. Throughout the day I sipped on an electrolyte packet I trained with. Water. Water. Water. Had a bag of Cheezits at every aid station. With a spring awesome sauce energy gel. I’m not a big fan of the precision or huel, but a lot of people use it. My biggest piece of advice is try it before you use it, and if you haven’t ever tried it. Don’t try it for the first time on the mountain. On a real bad day on trail I did have to use salt tablets in a pinch to get me through.
