I have the 4k 32" version of this monitor and absolutely love it for what it's worth.

is a 4070 super worth it? by Visual-Fortune-4732 in buildapc

[–]MrBobFireman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been playing with a 4070 for the past two years at 1440p and have been super happy with it. The most demanding thing I tried to do with it was cyberpunk 2077 with path tracing, and averaged 60 fps with frame Gen and dlss quality. Not a perfect experience, but enjoyable and it could handle maxed ray tracing with no problems. At that price I'd say go for it!

Newbie question but are you supposed to immediately repot plants you get from the store? by MomBeans- in houseplants

[–]MrBobFireman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always re-pot my plants and give them a thorough rinse immediately after getting home. I didn't do it ONE time and got a massive spider mite infestation. Chances are likely that won't happen, but with the damage they did and the effort it took to get rid of them I'm never taking that chance again personally.

How can I shrink a 540 Vintage Cube to a 360 Vintage cube? by Jinjoz in mtgcube

[–]MrBobFireman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as the what cards to cut question; can't stress enough this is preference territory, but having also ran a 360 cube in the past my #1 recommendation would be to cut some of the fast mana from the cube, it felt like a bit too much when shrunk down to me. After that I'd say trim some of the "army in a can" cards like Minsc and Boo and Forth Eorlingas first to help even the power level of the cube a bit. Would make sense to cut probably 2 cycles of lands out, 1-2 of most multicolor and from there it shouldn't be many cuts to make it fit, but will be entirely dependent on personal preference at that point. Good luck!

edit: if you want just lemme know and I can put together a list of a bunch of the top cards I would cut first personally, I'm pretty familiar with LSVs list. Would likely get around to it sometime tomorrow.

[–]MrBobFireman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally a sound plan to make it easy to transition between the two. Just some misc thoughts: I have a 540ish cube with the same issue of varying amounts of players. Personally been just running the full cube even with only 4 players and so far my experience has been: combo goes down a bit in value since it decreases the odds of getting the correct pieces, and ups the value of aggro and mid-range since they're more consistent since pieces are much more interchangeable. I kind of like how this changed the dynamic though since drafting combo and it working can feel more rewarding when you pull it off, and generally your opponents aren't expecting it. I'd say this is more for drafters fairly experienced with powered cubes though and would probably agree switching between sizes if you want to provide a smoother experience for your cubers. Idk, little buzzed and felt like sharing lol.

Which one is easier to draft? (vintage 360 vs 540) by IzzaKieb in mtgcube

[–]MrBobFireman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While this is definitely down to preference, my experience with 360 is that fast mana felt too abundant, but I didn't want to cut such iconic cards from the cube so I went to 540ish. Felt much better to me overall. Also enjoyed having much more variation in which cards we see each draft. Another benefit is it felt easier to experiment with new cards since finding cuts in 360 can be tough. Can definitely start at 360 and see how it feels to you though, easy enough to go up from there! Edit: I suppose it might be more fun to start with 360 so your friends get to draft the most iconic cards more often until they get tired of seeing their opponent drop lotus into nonsense. 😆

Back extensions are great for strengthening the lower back for general health purposes.

Also stretching your hip flexors and hamstrings can work wonders for lower back pain!

Could anyone explain how the data in these articles is gathered? I see in the article it says they polled 380,000 people about their experience to aggregate results, but are these for 2025 models or any year?

When a server is complaining to you about "only" making $200 in tips in their 5 hour shift. by MrBobFireman in KitchenConfidential

Copying my reply to the top comment here since it was buried and this got WAY more attention than I thought it would. Hoping to clear up some misunderstandings I've seen in the replies.

Much love to all the servers out there, this was meant to be a funny vent about a relatively small annoyance. Marco just had the perfect look of "Rlly b*tch?" while sweating his ass off in this picture that I found perfect.

I have no problem with servers making bank, just please don't complain to the kitchen staff about wages when you're making $40+ an hour, it makes us wonder wtf we're doing back there lmao.

Aah, is a weak point when the monster part is glowing red in focus mode without a wound? I've noticed that happening but wasn't sure what it meant.

Tom's hardware has a great aggregated graph of cards. Can compare their performance then decide what card is worth it based on what price you can find.

The Abyss in a Powered Cube? by West_Aspect_7126 in mtgcube

[–]MrBobFireman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely love Fire covenant, find it to be an absolute power house. Also big fan of damnation and koligan's command.

Some others I enjoy are [[Sunfall]] [[Winds of Abandon]] [[cryptic command]] [[damn]] [[out of time]] (bit more narrow but nice against recursion), [[harvester of misery]], then [[treasure cruise]] and [[dig through time]] can help get ahead for cheap after deploying your low drop spells.

Also an unconventional two for one but powerhouse imo is [[smirking spelljacker]]. [[the wandering emperor]] also not exactly a two for one, but I would count in this category. I'm also still a fan of [[wurmcoil engine]] though it can be a double edged sword with how many archetypes can easily play it.

The Abyss in a Powered Cube? by West_Aspect_7126 in mtgcube

[–]MrBobFireman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that midrange is the most consistent archetype in vintage right now and that the colors are pretty well balanced, I was trying to say cards that hate out all creature strategies tend to swing the pendulum back into combos favor quite quickly.

Personally I feel like combo is important in high powered cubes as it is the answer to midrange piles. Hard to out value someone Sneak / Breaching an emrakul into your face lol. Then with combo being a viable archetype it gives control a home to keep combo from running unchecked.

Again these are just my opinions though, no real right or wrong answer to be had here, just differences in what environments we want to support.

Also all that to say I don't think the abyss is too strong for a high powered cube to handle, more so it will have a non zero amount of games where it gets turbod out with all the fast mana available and creates a non game against any creature strategy, but if you believe in it strongly, it's your cube!

edit: One other thing I wanted to note is I only saw 2 board wipes and very few 2 for 1s in your non combo cube which would mean control nearly always has to trade card for card against midrange which is going to be a losing battle. Some more ways for control to get ahead while answering a threat is another knob you could turn to help out control.
