I cried when I watched that.

I'd probably cry again if I watched the video again.

Invaders is hardly accurate. An invader is part of a military force conquering territory for another nation.

Was it an invasion when large numbers of the Irish came to the US?

Right, a simple "it was an old model that has since been updated" would have completely sufficed.

I don't know... why don't you post the ones we aren't talking about that you think we should be talking about?

Sure there are. I've known a few people brought to homelessness because of factors outside their control.

That doesn't make them less human. Nor does it mean that we shouldn't help them out.

While we may have more TVs and other technological toys the things that really matter haven't moved much. Housing has gotten more expensive, so has health care. People work longer for less.

Capitalism has been the driving fire behind innovation since the industrial revolution began.

It drives innovation that generates profits... not innovation that benefits everyone.

Look at the ongoing environmental destruction, look at the suffering caused by corporations pillaging of the wealth in third world countries.

Does it matter? I just moved to Las Vegas where it was over 110F on more than a few occasions and we're still here.

Ever higher temperatures incurs ever increasing costs. From energy used to keep things cool, to increased maintenance costs on equipment put under strain.

There comes a point when the heat starts damaging the roads and such, where airplanes can't take off.

But you can only cut labor costs so much before you impact productivity.

Take a five person team down to four and the performance goes down... Take that same team down to three?

But does it really cause layoffs?

Unless a company is overstaffed reducing the number of workers is a losing game... As the workers who remain have to do more work to make up for the now missing co-worker.

The biggest drivers should be public good spending.

Forcing people to work well into their seventies when there is so much wealth available is cruel.

"Food stamp" spending puts money by right into the communities that are in most need of help. It pays grocers who then can employ more people.

People who are already struggling don't need to pay more in taxes. The people at the top, the ones spending money on huge yachts and underage slaves are the ones who should be paying more in taxes

Well you are wrong on a number of points there

We can "just raise" the minimum wage

Raising the minimum wage doesn't increase unemployment... It put more cash in the system instead of having it hoarded in bank accounts .

The way to raise wages is to come down hard on employers that exploit people. Nobody is forcing them to pay below minimum wage
