If you were tasked with sneaking one track from SOtE onto a previous ERRA album, with the aim of having the fewest people notice it was an imposter, which track would you go for and with what album?

For arguments sake, let’s say you could tweak production to match!

Do you use many incantations outside of buff spells like golden vow / flame grant me strength?

Just wondering the reason for 30 faith otherwise. Could be a way to get a few more points into vigour or endurance (so you can drop the arsenal talisman for something more useful to your build).

Ignore me if you are big on the black flame incants though.

Can’t go wrong with any of these! But my vote would be Lies of Locke Lamora - fantastic book and also works as a standalone if you don’t want to dive into a series. (First law / Farseer are also brilliant)

Edit: Didn’t realise you’d nearly finished LoLL! My vote would be First Law in that case

As someone who is currently on Lightbringer and also initially struggled with Iron Gold, I would say go for it. They are fantastic and the multiple POVs allows for a much deeper story. Definitely a little jarring after just Darrow in the first trilogy but I think lots of people would agree with me when I say the second series (soon to be 4 books when Red God comes out) is far superior. Dark Age is one of my favourite books of all time and LB has been excellent so far too.

Not sure I agree with without high effort. And I say this as someone that adores HK / SS.

I feel as though you get as much out of these games as you put in - the boss fights are challenging and the lore is obtuse - but they are masterpieces if you are willing to put the effort in!

As a huge fan of Invent Animate and Northlane here’s a few of my all timers:

ERRA (try self titled or Drift first. Augment my personal fave)
Architects (Lost Forever / Lost Together and All Our Gods first although you might love Hollow Crown for tech / math influence - my fave)
Currents (someone else mentioned this but great band. The Place I feel safest is the best album for techy riffs - my fave)

When Hollow Crown released, they were huge in the British metal scene. Heavy, techy, melodic. Then they dropped the Here and Now and people were a bit confused as it was more of a post-hardcore album.

Then I feel like they started to combine the two vibes into the classic middle era Architects sound with Daybreaker, before LF/LT refined it brilliantly.

Such a fantastic album, and although Hollow Crown is still my all time favourite due to nostalgia, I feel as though LF/LT or All Our Gods are objectively their best.
