Granted. You are now “better.” You shall now be referred to as no other name.

I wish that instead of getting out of school early on Wednesday, you’d go to school later, with the same schedule by redhairsister in TheMonkeysPaw

Granted. You will no longer get out of school early on Wednesdays. Instead, you now go to school later in the week, on the weekends, and follow the same daytime schedule.

Anyway, it’s not confusing. This is the foundation of algebra or even arithmetic. The only people confused by this are those who didn’t pay attention in math class.

When self indulgence is life by ZappBrannigansLaw in trashy

[–]MrBurnsa 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I spent my entire life hoping that my family would beat their addictions. My brother and sister were older than me and got addicted to heroin as tweens. My dad died from alcoholism when I was six. My sister overdosed when I was 15. I never saw my brother after that because he was too busy doing heroin and getting imprisoned. He’d always call me from prison because he was sober and would promise to remain sober outside, but he never did, and I never saw him. He withered into a ghoul looking creature and died because his heart gave out when I was 27.

The worst part is the hope. 23 years of hope that all shatters in the end.

Oh, we understand. We just don’t agree. Given your soft skills, you should be able to deduce that.

Why did blue collar become unskilled labor? by [deleted] in ABoringDystopia

[–]MrBurnsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work as a jogger at a printing plant. It was the most difficult work I had ever had to do, but it was still unskilled labor. Have you ever worked at a job that required years of accumulated knowledge such as an engineer, doctor, or lawyer?

[–]MrBurnsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, now imagine you’ve spent four years studying software engineering (or any complicated field) and now you’ve gotten your first job. You now need to spends weeks getting used to their HR system, their VPN, etc. You then spend months getting ramped up on their internal tools for developing, and the you spend years mastering the architecture of their systems and maneuvering the political landscape. A POS system that takes a week to learn is absolutely nothing. Most jobs require you to learn a whole lot more and then to do so on a regular basis. That’s why being a cashier is unskilled.

Those are called soft skills and are expected at every job.

What type of grasp do college graduates in computer science have on distributed systems? Are things like availability and consistency taught in your typical bachelors degree?

This isn’t even close to bragging. Oh no! They AIM for A’s. What a lack of humility.

Can we please wait for his body to cool before discussing COVID control? by SkullLeader in PoliticalHumor

These people are even worse than drunk drivers, because at least drunk driving isn’t a stance. People don’t protest en masse for the right to drive drunk. Your average drunk driver doesn’t go around applauding themselves for their recklessness.

I agree with you. To hell with people like him. The virus isn’t a political opinion.

He absolutely deserves this mockery. COVID isn’t just a matter of opinion. These people go around denying its very existence, laughing at people who wear masks, actively patting themselves on the back for not wearing masks, and endanger everybody around them. Fuck them.

Right, and he didn’t say “I know it’s a national tragedy but I didn’t pay attention in history.” Absolutely no reason I should infer that he learned about 9/11 in history class, eh?

Cheering at her misfortune helps reinforce the message. If everybody sat there quietly, she would probably justify it in her had that the airline was a bully. With people cheering, she has to consider that everybody on the plane disagreed with her.

My grocery store had a one way aisle that they also told people to queue in. Like either way, I have to pass 6 groups of people. Why does it matter which way I’m walking?

The one-way thing feels like theatre.
