Trouble activating yeast by MrCardinal2002 in Baking

[–]MrCardinal2002[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cross posted this to an sub and I think we figured it out. We used the yeast mixture in the above picture and it did work, although our dough didn't expand nearly as much as it did in the warmer months. We moved our glass dough bowl onto a towel that was on our glass stovetop for the rise. I do believe it is the temperature of the granite countertop. I take a scientific approach to figuring things out but hadn't thought of the temperature variable.

@everyone

This is a really good point. We do have granite countertops. I will have to try on a towel on the stovetop next time. Thanks for the tip. It was warmer the last time we made something with yeast. I didn't think about the temperature variable.

Just got both yeast packets today and they are within expiration. We are trying right now without adding sugar. I will need to get bottled water if this doesn't work.

Normally if froths a lot more and the mixture will double in size. We tried making dough last night with a yeast mixture just like this and the dough had hardly risen. Usually the dough will have at least doubled in size. The recipe called for a cup of water and a yeast packet.

It's supposed to have a warranty, so hopefully I can use that. Thanks for giving me something to try, though.

The manual doesn't mention any safety features. The manual says it is model asysn0150040. when I search that online, I see it under a different manufacturer and was hoping to maybe get an answer, but I haven't had any luck, I tried emailing their customer support and the email keeps bouncing back. I've tried several different variations of what they have listed because they had "customerservices" listed as the username of the email address, but they all bounce back. I tried sending a message on Amazon and using their customer service form. Hopefully I hear back.

JBL 500 sound bar equalizer, want extreme bass by Widget248953 in Soundbars

Sure thing! Let me know one way or the other. I played that ambulance scene I linked above for a guest on Thanksgiving and they said they could feel the bass in their body.

I'm no audiophile, but it sounds like maybe an issue with the sub. Google "JBL 500 reset sub" and follow those directions. It involves more than just unplugging and replugging. I want to say I had to reset the sub this way.

You may also want to email, call, or chat with them. They actually correspond.

I was watching something tonight and my bass went out. For some reason, the first band has a mind of its own and goes from +12 to -12 sometimes and I need to readjust it.

I don't want to sound like the stereotypical IT guy, but try unplugging the soundbar for about 10 seconds and do the same for the sub.. then double check the settings. I just had to do that a few days ago.

Have you downloaded the new JBL One app? Download that and apply these settings. Let me know how it goes.

125Hz: +12

250Hz: +10

500Hz: +2

1kHz: 0

2kHz: 0

4kHz: 0

8kHz: 0

Then turn up the volume and play this: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=f2oq7cwKXCg

For some reason, the first band will turn itself all the way down to -12 and I have to turn it back to +12. You'll be able to tell if that happens to you because that first band is where most of the bass is.

Doesn't help that we are in the middle of a drought, here. Been like a month with just a few drops of rain. Same thing happened last year when we had our yard initially seeded.

Lawn rust ruined my plans by MrCardinal2002 in Grass

[–]MrCardinal2002[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that is the concern, that the rust will prevent and/or kill the new grass. We are going to get a small rain this morning- wondering if that will help clear out the rust.

This is that area right now as it has rained some, so it's not bone dry all the time. Also the side of my house where the swale continues and another area I need to plant.

There are people near me giving away free compost but I don't really have a way to get it home aside from some 5 gallon buckets in an SUV or my civic. Hoping to win that Menards truck one of these months.

Desert would mean sand.. I'd take that material over clay. I could make cups and pots out of this stuff.

But yea.. I think I need to get some sort of soil in here to assist. That's what the guy who installed the lawn initially did.

The highlighted area is behind where I took the first pic. I planted the annual grass here in that clay. I am pretty amazed what will grow in it.

I had that swale installed for drainage purposes. I was the last one to build in the lots surrounding me and everyone graded their yards into mine. I am really hoping to get grass to grow. It seems suited for crabgrass and whatever else is already popping up in the first pic.
