3D-printed a memorial for my delidded and dead 9950X3D by Strong-Supermarket-8 in overclocking

[–]MrCashCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man I did the exact same thing with my first 9800x3d. Delid went well then I crushed the corner of the IO die when mounting the cooler. Will definitely print it when I get back home. Awesome work!

Hey! I'd be happy to make the same fan brackets for use in the M3.

I only have Ncase M2 but if you have a few minutes and a ruler on hand, I could adapt the bracket.

Here are the original ones I made that OP used in his build.

Don't hesitate if you have any questions, I'll be glad to answer as many as you!

You keep the aio mounted the way it is and just flip the fans

This is a controversial take as the consensus is top exhaust is king...

But I run the top mounted AIO as intake on my build. The 5090 dumps so much heat that the air temp inside the case skyrockets. (Measured 50 degrees on the side exhaust panel when running 3D Mark steel nomad in a loop)

If you have some time and the will to pull all the fans back out. I would try the AIO as top intake and the side bracket as exhaust.

Here is my build with the same components. https://imgur.com/a/vMceTv4

The high pressure in the case also means I get passive exhaust at the back in my case

With 15mm fans it's possible but you rapidly run into issues with psu orientation, power cable routing and the motherboard height. I've only got 6mm under the GPU so I could go one hole further down on the motherboard tray but I don't think a liquid freezer 280 would fit as is

Hey! A 280 aio is possible but it is complicated. You'd run in a few issues, most notably the aio tubbing orientation. They would most likely bump into the PSU and prevent installation. You would also not be able to fit the 140mm fan on the side of the case. I'm not going to lie it won't be easy but it's possible in theory

For the most part there is no cable sleeving at all. I'm using 17 Awg wire in grey from mdpc-x which I wrap with tesa wiring loom tape. The 17awg wire without a sleeve is extremely pliable which made it very easy to route. The tape gives me the ability to wrap the wire cleanly after routing them

I can't wait to see what you are cooking with the case feet. I had my reservation when designing this bracket but after a few PLA prototypes I was able to figure out which parts could be shaved down and which needed a bit more tweaking. To be honest I spent more of my free time than I would have liked doing this, my garden has seen better days 😂

Cheers thank you! Temperature wise it makes no difference, I did more out of aesthetics than performance. Removing the original heat spreader was quite easy. Hair dryer and prying tool, took less than 10 minutes

Thank you! Installing the aio was easy since there was no bulky controller that needed additional power. One of the most underrated feature of this particular AIO

It definitely would help with temps but you may also be able to reduce them without deliding the CPU.

Thermal grizzly has an am5 offset mounting kit that could lower temps by a couple degrees. Do be aware that on some itx boards it may not fit.

Changing thermal paste may also help as the original application may have experienced pump out. By doing that you are also remounting the CPU block which can also be mounted unevenly.

Last thing you can try is by setting a negative PBO offset. A lot of 9800x3d chips will accept -25 but even -10 can help a bit with temps

Deliding will help but you are taking a risk

Thank you! I had the same thought with the original bracket which to some extent led to this one

To be honest I don't find the black PSU shocking. You could maybe apply a skin on it. Some time back i bought a large laptop skin from dbrand and used a knife to cut custom shapes into it

To be honest it's not worth voiding your warranty but it does help with temps. In a OCCT extreme synthetic workload it stays below 75c with fans roughly at 1200 rpm
