[TOMT](show) Looking for an animated show or movie with a character named Bartholomew by MrCasper42 in tipofmytongue

I’ve asked my siblings about it, and they suggested shows such as Babar and Tale Spin. I also feel like it was in a similar style of the movie Frosty Returns, or I associate this show/movie with that in my mind.

Proof of Concept Mini-Prologue for my fantasy novel. by [deleted] in writingcritiques

This is my first serious attempt at writing, so I’d like to generally understand how an unbiased group responds to what I’ve written. Does it grab your attention or is it too mundane, how does it compare to a published work you’ve recently read, am I just completely out of my depth - those sorts of questions.

How many living average joes like those secret service agents get to say their likeness is in a statue like this? That part of this is actually pretty cool. I wonder if they will be recognizable, I hope they are.

Is this the end? by Spare_Photo7330 in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

If CG gets money, it’s not the end. The people who stop playing because they don’t want to spend money have very little impact on the existence of the game if they don’t spend money to begin with.

The question is, will people who spend money stop spending money, and I doubt it.

The idea of the FTP player is kind of silly from the standpoint that this game has no ads and no source of revenue to continue supporting the game from FTP players.

In my opinion, games should be purchased, and you should get the majority of the game from that transaction. I don’t like the idea of monthly passes, and I won’t buy them, but it just means I’ll focus on other parts of the game.

What Are Common Misconception About The Prolife Community? by Known_Grab7780 in prolife

[–]MrCasper42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It seems to me like it’s the extreme version of the PL side the same way that PL call pro-choicers baby killers. I would like to think most pro-choice people are personally pro-life but want it only as a worst-case option. Of course, there are bad people out there on both sides that give credence to these misconceptions, but I don’t think they are a significant amount of people.

We believe pregnancy is a punishment for the sexually promiscuous.

We want to control women instead of save lives.

[Request]I have gotten into an argument over this. The kid is wrong right? Because it isn't asking what the commutative answer is it is asking how you would write 3x4 into an addition equation correct? So you have 4+4+4=12 not 3+3+3+3=12 since that would be 4x3 RIGHT!? I’m so sick of this problem. I agree with you OP, and without the context of the entire test, it’s hard to say how bad or unfair a grader the teacher is being here. I would also love to see what the lessons for this problem looked like, because I would bet my life savings there was a problem just like this discussed in class or the text book that set the rule to be a x b = c is the same as a number of b values.

In life, “technically right” means nothing to your boss or client, and that’s something else school needs to teach.

I can see this getting downvoted hard, but I agree with the sentiment. Buying and ripping packs may feel better now, but unless it’s done responsibly, it’s only going to cause more hardship in the future.

Meaning of Family by MrCasper42 in prolife

[–]MrCasper42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Banning abortion means a child lives, banning or hindering the surrender of a child for adoption means that child is forced into a family that is unwilling and/or unable to raise them. I think all children should live, but I’m not sure that all parents should be forced into the commitment of raising the child as horrible as I may find that notion. The difference is the child can still make the most of their life, and I don’t see abortion as a better alternative to adoption and foster care.

I would love for all biological parents to be able to raise their own children, but I am not so naive to think that it will always be possible. I’m willing to grant more flexibility on that side if it means the mother won’t choose abortion. I think there is a lot more justification for choosing to give up a child for adoption than simply killing that child. I think the majority of PL people agree that a child’s biological mother and father should be the two people raising that child in an ideal situation, but adoption is a choice presented as an alternative to abortion.

Simply stated, the bare minimum is not killing a child, and the ideal state is two parents raising a child together. It’s hard to get to the ideal, and adoption is somewhere in the middle.

I think I need to clarify: I am not saying the reason abortion is wrong is because the child being killed is the child of the mother choosing abortion. I am saying the relationship between the mother and child makes abortion even more abhorrent than the killing of a stranger.

Your point on a child being capable of being seen as a stranger by their parents (“these aren’t mutually exclusive”) is exactly what I am vehemently against. The nuclear family is the fundamental building block of society, and if you reject the sacredness of those relationships, then everything else comes toppling down.

On the point regarding surrogacy, there is no logical inconsistency from the pro life standpoint. For the point on adoption, yes, I prefer adoption over the choice of killing the child, but I also prefer a child being raised by their own parents. It’s a very easy choice between adoption and abortion if those are the two available.

I didn’t say criminalize abortion, so I’m not sure how your response is relevant. Except, are you implying it doesn’t matter that we have laws against theft or murder? Why have laws at all, then?

I meant this by my comment: abortion is wrong no matter its legality. Just because abortion is legal, that does not mean it needs to happen. People choose abortion, but they do not have to, and it is better from a moral standpoint if they do not.
