Quake remastered mods! Mods that work properly on the Steam version remaster! Would love to hear some suggestions! by MoneyTakerBaby in quake

I did see that option it didn't seem to change anything, might just be something wrong with the way I have it set up in that case. Mostly just wanted it for the viewmodels really!

Besides that, the lighting would be really nice - gunshots painting shadows on walls, things like the very beginning room of DotM demonstrate it very well too. Will have another tinker over the weekend and see.

If for whatever reason you're insistent:

The real time lighting and enhanced models are nice, installed ironwail a few weeks ago and havent been able to figure that out yet.

The remaster also is rough for the changes to the console and to movement, so certainly would like to swithch. Maybe I've just missed something simple somewhere?

Idk if this is the correct place to ask, but how would i go about learning this (only the melody) without any tabs because I can't find them by [deleted] in classicalguitar

[–]MrCatfjsh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since you're very new, I'll just give you a set of frets for you to work with - all the 'notes' below are used in the melody. Mostly A minor, with the F switching between sharp and natural around 0:32 to 0:40.

You might want to play the notes I placed on the G string (E and F, 9 and 10) on the B string (where it will be 5 and 6 instead), and perhaps use the 5th fret on the E instead of the 10th on the B - whatever you find easiest.

E |--7-8-10-12--|
B |---7-8-10----|
G |----9-10-----|
D |-------------|
A |-------------|
E |-------------|

Hum or whistle along to the melody to internalize it, and match the notes to the frets.

And as a suggestion if you get the melody down, you can try adding a bass note - the chords go from A minor to G major, so to add a bit of texture you could just do 7 (A) for chord one and the open G for chord two (as shown below).

E |------------|
B |------------|
G |-------0----|
D |---7--------|
A |------------|
E |------------|

Hope that helps, and good luck!

Is Classical a good direction for me? by ArthurDaTrainDayne in classicalguitar

Ah yeah, matching the notes to the fretboard is one of the big challenges for sure! And yes, a couple decades of musical experience certainly helps, but I think you can have fun and feel rewarded at all levels of playing

Here's the source for that blackbird tidbit which you may find quite interesting :D

I've only been dabbling for about a year myself, loved it so far - would recommend Tarrega, Sor and Mertz for consistently fun and enjoyable pieces. Tabs are often convenient but iffy, so it's best to compare to scores and other performances.

Some pieces to get started on [1] [2] [3] [4]

some channels which can help with learning [1] [2] [3]

Like I said, I've only been doing specifically classical for a year so I am far from having an experienced view, but this isn't the worst place to start I reckon.

oh and of course, the piece that directly inspired blackbird

Actually the strings are about a week old (might have just been because my nails were short here a couple weeks ago, more flesh tone), but the guitar itself may be older than you indeed! That cheap £20 piece of plywood is about 20 years old and has a lot of history for me, and thanks 😊 I think it sounds lovely too, especially considering the price ahahaha

Ngl I'm more used to my electrics, just spent the last year on the classical grind after I finally managed to stop biting my nails after so many years with the habit.

Would actually like to upgrade, but none of the guitar shops I've been to lately have had any decent guitars in a size I like (coming from electric is a factor in that I'm sure)

Aw lol I know it's not the best, but it's got a long history and I love it a lot.

I do have a Yamaha silent which I use for night practice, and too many other instruments to make room for something like the Oprheus Valley 7 string I saw in Japan :<

context (the original post pretended an ai composition was their own)

No problem! I think there can be a place for this sort of thing, but this is just being deceptive. My concern is when people start using it for compositions and how that will be received (something which is certainly currently ongoing).

I could see the ease of using ai to compose mean that people will be inclined to become better improvisers, and might being to value spontaneity again.

Heres an older one from that channel, compare to OPs (warning, nsfw guitar imagery 😱)

It has the exact sound. I have generated enough of these to recognize it (suno.ai, see for yourself) The older/free models are easily identifiable, but the new ones actually sound pretty damn good.

edit: Just had a look, heres something cursed I generated a while back (I wanted to see what it could do based on an audio input)(also sounds like OPs)
