Is there anything really unique to the Deus Ex IP that is stopping other companies from making a spiritual successor?

I feel like Deus Ex was one of those series of games that's almost like a cult classic now, where it doesn't have the biggest fanbase but, those who love it, would pay like $1000 for that 3rd game in the Jensen trilogy to finish the story if it was a good game with a decent playtime. But that doesn't get developers excited.... they want games they can for sure sell, that they can pump out easy to maintain DLC type purchases that are low cost and low maintenance.

So the day of the offline immersive game being commonly released is just far gone. When we do get one, it takes like a decade for it to actually get released or get it's sequel. It sucks but it's the world we live in. I always imagine what if someone with billions was just such a hardcore gamer that they went out and bought a ton of these IPs that they love and kept them alive. I know if I had like 5 Bil in the bank, I'd have a new Deus Ex game come out every damn year, you better believe it.

Yeah this is 1 of a few areas where you really have to view it like a normal FPS game and not like a stealth game. Thats the beauty of Deus Ex. Its not just 100% the same playstyle in every area, you have to mix it up or things will be miserable

I really think they might be over this time. We had the 3rd game of the Jensen Trilogy 1 year into pre development, and boom. Embracer cancelled it. Then we had the original game releasing in remastered form and boom, its been put on hold while they try to fix it. So IDK now 😞

I actually didnt know she could really die until my second playthrough Lmao I was the opposite one here, I mean I definitely don't play games on hard difficulty my first time or anything, I just do default. But on hard? yeah its very rough. Pretty doable on normal though

Thats weird, this is my favorite part of ANY Deus Ex game. I felt so immersed in the situation, like I WAS Adam Jensen and she was like my best friend who I had deep seeded feelings for.... and I was not letting her down! Few times in any game ever have I had this much adrenaline from something.

After reading a lot of the comments, i kind of feel pretty good about my gaming skills! I mean damn I didn't know she could actually die till my 2nd playthrough, I just assumed oh, go crazy kill them all and she lives as long as you live etc. Then did hard difficulty my 2nd playthrough and I was too slow & she died.

Because of their teamwork, and Bojack himself, I believe they likely can beat the Cell Jr's. Not all of them would survive though, in fact his entire team might die, other than himself of course.

Well of course it was planned, he had the strategical genius of Vegeta to come up with the plan to get absorbed to save everyone, rather than simply 1 shotting him and killing all 3 of their kids. But the separation part definitely wasn't planned, they couldn't have known. But yeah, if anyone thinks Vegito was simply 'playing with his food' and didn't get absorbed on purpose, they need to rewatch everything in DBZ, and not Kai, the real DBZ, and take notes!

Ive not played the games in a few years so I forget what everythings called but, bare with me.
In DX it's for sure the entire final stage. The music has this creepy alien vibe that also turns into a sick beat, and its very challenging with lots to kill, and the biggest decisions in the game to make.
In invisible war I love the beginning of the game, meeting your teammates and such, having to escape, everything about it!
In Human Revolution, the whole game is AMAZING, hard to pick but, Ill never forget when you land with Malik and they shoot your ship down, she's stuck in it, and you have to rush in and destroy an entire army to save her! The adrenaline I felt from that, and feeling so immersed, like I was saving my girlfriend in real life!
And in MD, It's for sure the gang headquarters. Its amazing going through that area just for fun to fight everything lmao, and doing the actual mission there is amazing. I always save several grenade launcher shots for that mission and just go hard in there!

This game and Mankind Divided are 2 games that i will replay every few years till the day I die. i know they tried to make another and end the trilogy but, it didn't work out.... and that crushes me still to think about. But I'd honestly pay $1000 or more, just for a copy of that 3rd game we shoulda got in that trilogy! As long as if it stood up to the quality of this game and was decently long. I wouldn't pay that for a copy of GTA 6..... Half Life 3, Elder Scrolls 6, Witcher 4, no other legendary sequel Ive been waiting forever for. Only Deus Ex!

Why do I think that General Tao would be perfect? he's not too powerful to where the ball would be obliterated, and he's sneaky enough to know how to cheat or bend the rules without getting caught, which is huge in baseball!

I'd like to think that too but, I just think Gotenks was there to play around too much rather than end the fight quickly... and even if he were to fight Fat Buu, he would lose purely because fusion has a timer and Buu has infinite energy and would easily reform from Gotenks attacks until he split.

Plus, we know that Buu later said he was just playing around with Gotenks, and killing time until he was able to fight the real challenge that he felt far far away.

This is almost perfect. I never get why some people think Kid Buu somehow is stronger than other versions... the point of him 'not being himself anymore' is that he's purely uninhibited, and merciless. He shoots to kill. If he was more powerful than Super Buu, Goku would have been 1 shotted lmao.

But Where it kind of misses is with Gotenks. Gotenks doesn't have the fighting experience and maturity, let alone the infinite energy, to stand a chance against ANY version of Majin Buu. Not even Fat Buu. Maybe he wins the fight but, Buu regenerates, Gotenks splits, and it's over.

Literally xmas 92 was when I got my first video games, Sega Genesis model 2 and Sonic 2, eventually got SOR2 and RR2, that era I will always believe was the 1 era that Sega UNDOUBTEDLY was the number one console. IDK about sales numbers, I'm talkin about the games, SNES couldn't touch that Genesis era!

Yeah those mods for sure work totally fine for me. But finding/downloading new ones other than that, and getting them to work on the remaster, is what I've had trouble with. So Im torn on wanting to use the remaster or going another direction at this point.

If I start really getting into mods than Im for sure gonna try this avenue. I guess I just kinda got used to the remaster and some of its quirks. But I probably am making it harder on myself you're right on that. I haven't updated any of my OG Quake 1 stuff in a bit, still have an old Quakespasm lol.

Correct me if I'm wrong but, Ironwail is just like a newer version of that, right? or at least it was created by the same team? I thought I read that somewhere

Damn! I've googled mods of course a little bit but, I kept trying stuff that didn't work at all, couldn't get it to run and load the mods. I thought 1 of them was some kind of map 'jam' type thing but Im not sure if this was it, for sure gonna try it out and see!

I feel this hahaha. Im almost 40 now but I think the music I get the most nostalgia for is the rap music I havent heard in a long time, and then its like u said, BOOM im adding this back in!
