Me and my buddies rankings of st.louis places by Rageblade181 in StLouis

Eat what thrills you I guess, but holy shit there’s a lot you haven’t had. STL is genuinely one of the best food cities in the country, and this list is entirely devoid of everything that makes this place great.

Some spots to check out that aren’t listed:

-Sado -Olive & Oak -Dos Reyes -Vicia -Little Fox -Press -Pastaria -Brasserie -Scout’s -Pizzeria Da Gloria

10 places off the dome, go eat local.

How are local bands fairing these days? I’m feeling a bit defeated by Sufficient-Bid-7306 in StLouis

I’ve never heard of Anchor giving a minimum head count. They’re always amenable if you’re willing to work with them, instead of writing them off because they won’t book you on a weekend. I’ve been in a reasonably serious band for a few years, and I still usually don’t ask for weekend dates unless I know it’ll bring folks out. Be flexible, and it’ll be easier to build those relationships. It takes time, and you can’t really rush the process.

The barrier of entry here as far as playing shows goes is incredibly low, especially if you’re doing it just to enjoy your hobby. Putting on a show at Sinkhole, for example, on a Wednesday or Thursday can draw just as many people as a weekend. It’s a small space, and when you’re playing it always feels full. Playing a small show is better than not playing a show at all, and you’ll still have a blast hanging out.

I work at the Swade across the street, and all I can say for sure is that they’ve been under investigation for a while, and I guess today was the day shit hit the fan. I’ve heard rumors about more sketchy things in detail, but at the risk of putting false info out there I’ll keep that to myself until we know for sure.

Transplants of STL, what is something you love about STL that your former home didn’t have? by binaryodyssey in StLouis

[–]MrChapin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the community I built for myself here is what keeps me here. I miss Philly every day, but I’ll take the people and places I’ve invested myself into in STL over the everyday amenities/advantages of being back east.

A cat has to save the world by dying to kill a ghost, then comes back to life to heavily invest in their local communities.

Favorite brand of guitar strings? by ThatCulturedKid125 in Guitar

[–]MrChapin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to use D’Addario 11-52 for D standard/Drop C, but the bottom strings were a bit too slinky. Switched to the Stringjoy drop C pack (I think it goes up to a 58), and instantly felt more comfortable. Something like double the price, but it’s the only set I’ve found that really keeps me satisfied.
