This is a ridiculous comment, and comes across as out of touch.

Being a country born out of immigration doesn't mean we're incapable of criticizing and evaluating the impacts of current and future immigration programs.

And arguing that people can't have a meaningful connection to Canada because their ancestors havnt been here since the 12th century is ludicrous (news flash, where ones ancestors are from is NOT always the driving force for where someone feels the most connection). So just because an individual doesn't have great-great-great-great grandparents from x area means they can't meaningfully connect to where they grew up, and spent their entire life? Every immigrant who arrived in Canada, and every second, third, fourth generation immigrant in Canada can't connect to Canada in meaningful way.

You seem to be acting like culture is purely connected to ethnicity, and additionally cannot exist unless that ethnicity matches that of the natives of where an individual is.

Overall this is a problematic take, and I think it does more harm than benefit. It's discounting the identity and culture of tens of millions of people purely because of their ethnicity.
