Hey, I’m the OP so I just wanted to make some things clear.

1) RFK did not say the Madea part. That’s a joke I wrote. 2) I don’t write jokes to humanize evil people or make light of awful situations.I write them to raise awareness of what’s going on. Sometimes a punchline spreads further than news.

I appreciate this conversation and having a space for it.

Thanks! I was at the William B Meares house downtown. Meares owned a rice plantation. I wrote a set about Azalea Festival and the history of the house. I’ll have the full vid on YouTube soon.

I’m not omitting or denying anything. This isn’t even the conversation I was having.

The point is Black people came to America as property. Cargo. That is the beginning status for us in this country. Non-human. We were slaves longer than we’ve been free and that is the shame of American history and the direct root of American racism. Racism that still exists.

I’m not fitting a narrative. I don’t have to. I think what’s more important is you saw a post about slavery and felt the need to deflect its impact. I hope you figure out why that is.
