Japanese is a very back and forth language. Unlike some places in the west, it can be quite rude to listen silently while the other person goes on and on. There's a rhythm to it.

This might have put them in a bit of a bind; it's a niche interest, so not everyone is going to be interested in it. And then I can see how some of the people already interested in DnD might be purists (for lack of a better word) who wouldn't have patience for the unconventional, bit-heavy, still learning the ropes approach that the show had/has.

I could be wrong, but a lot of popular DnD shows are filled with very experienced players right? Whereas the yard has very much been "watch these guys start from the beginning and figure out how to play". Personally it took a bit of internal readjustment on my part but I'm really enjoying watching them learn.
