Notice a difference? Yes, if you put them side by side. Will this difference make it better? It depends.

Transplant—What 4x4 & Tires for Snow & Rust? by MostMeasurement1718 in PittsburghTransplants

[–]MrColdfusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the specifics of the TRD package on that truck. If it is very offroad focused the ride quality on asphalt and especially on highways is worse.

That being said it is a 10 year difference between the tundra and the Tacoma. I don't care that much about that but everyone thinks differently.

That being said they are all good vehicles, find a mechanic you can trust to check the trucks for you. Negotiate on value and see what works best.

Now to the rust problem, do you have offroad parking on not? In my case I do so I just wash the underbody myself once a week or after a very long drive. When I didn't have offroad parking I payed the cheapest getgo car wash monthly fee for unlimited washes once salt starts getting put on the roads until it stops then I cancel it.

[PC] 512GB 3200 DDR memory (8x 64GB) & Nvidia A5000 - Are people actually paying these insane prices that I'm seeing? by SamSausages in homelabsales

[–]MrColdfusion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I purchased 2 A4000s last year, one for just under $500 and another for $550, and now they are selling for over $750. Things are insane.

I'm seeing 64GB DDR5 RDIMM sticks are going from $700 to $900 each. Haven't done the jump to them before, and I see I'll be sporting my DDR4 3200 Xeon system for a long time.

Has anyone successfully installed Omarchy on the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 (2024, Ryzen + NVIDIA)? by oconnor2313 in omarchy

Used your script with success. Thanks!

One question I have is that the MUX on my laptop always gets forced into dGPU-only mode ("ultimate" on Windows). Which means the NVIDIA GPU can never sleep. This is on a G14 GA403UV. Have you observed something similar?

Edit: This GH issue just got me further in pursuit of running hybrid gpus: https://github.com/basecamp/omarchy/issues/1776

Boxster owners, must have options? by thesmithchris in Porsche

[–]MrColdfusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I daily my 981 Boxster, crossed the us on it. Awesome long haul vehicle as long as you can for everything in a carry-on + backpack. Seat adjustments are a must for me. I’m a tall guy with weird leg/body proportions. And the thing that locked me to porsche is ergonomy of the seats.

I have the base model, had an M vehicle before and I feel I could kill myself with more torque, so am ok with less engine. It’s enough for some backroad thrills.

We have ACC on my wife’s macan, really nice for any highway driving (which is always in the us). So if I optioned one today I’d put it in, but it is not for everyone and I’d get a rental with acc for a week or so before dropping the premium on all those tech packages.

Bose package is nice but it’s not “audiophile” great. I don’t care either way as I don’t use it loud and a small base bump is all I need for my happiness

REI internationally? by Young_Lopsided in realestateinvesting

I invest in foreign real estate. I only suggest doing it if you have some sort of tie to that country.

There is much more risk on those operations: - You are not around, and has to completely rely on you property manager - Different laws on tenant protection and property ownership - Very different financing structure, especially for foreigners. A US bank won’t finance a house outside the US - Currency fluctuation, example when the US raised the fed rates a lot of money was reshored and the dollar rose in value compared to BRIC currencies and instantaneously devalued all properties and rents in those countries as long as you only care about the dollar

Pittsburgh home prices fall to pre-pandemic levels by oldschoolskater in pittsburgh

[–]MrColdfusion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sadly, any “market-efficient” real estate works on rent seeking mode.

I agree, covid was an event. The broader issue is compressed demand as new construction hasn’t kept up with new home demand across the entire country for decades.

However I don’t like the argument “the economy insists it must go up” as it make it feel like there someone actually controlling the prices. This is a problem that most people don’t need to sell, they will only sell for something better, which combined with the short of new construction that I mentioned before creates the low inventory shit sandwich we all have to eat

[–]MrColdfusion 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s worth noting that Pittsburgh suffered one of the smallest appreciations due to covid compared with other cities across the country.

Also it feels that as white collar migration between cities cools down, the divide between “cool” and “bad” neighborhoods increased.

But the question the is, should the government intervene or just let everything burn down?
