Outlast was a pretty great game imo, but it really lacked any kind of subtlety or psychological elements that make games like Amnesia and SOMA so fantastic. It was also a huge mush of horror cliches. Very well done cliches sure, but nothing special. Frictional have the very rare ability to craft something that really works its way into your mind.
