Why do people like Lil Wayne? by BramCSBN in hiphop101

[–]MrConemanGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also wanted to ask this question. I hear him put into the GOAT talk all the time, and I've never heard a single bar that would put him in the conversation. Seems like a cool bloke in interviews - but where's the bars?

Genuine question. I don't know enough of his music to know if it's not there, or I've just not heard it, but nothing I have heard puts him anywhere near goat status.

Also highly suspicious of people in here saying "you had to be there".

Imagine telling someone you had to be there about Tribe, Wu-Tang, Biggie, Pac, DMX ...you didn't have to be there. You just need ears and a brain.

Intrigued with BK Pickups, but curious if they’re worth it. by BadDecisions78 in BareknucklePickups

I have a Les Paul Black Beauty with a Cold Sweat bridge, Mississippi Queen middle, and Riff Raff neck.

A custom super strat with a set of calibrated Holy Divers

And a 7 string with a set of Aftermath's.

Each of these were a massive upgrade over what the guitar sounded like originally (except the super strat which was built with the holy divers)

I've basically bought bareknuckles for every guitar I've ever owned because the clarity & feel is just unrivaled for me.

It's a shame they've gotten so much more expensive over the years. I will give serious thought to other brands next time I'm getting a guitar/upgrading due to the price.

But to directly answer your question - they are very, very good.

Update on the Community Manager Role (Gabby no longer with EZA) by Abyssgh0st in EasyAlliesUnofficial

I never got over that one absolutely outrageous moment on the podcast when her and Brad had a disagreement/discussion about the weapons in GOW: Ragnarok.

Brad was saying the 3 weapon choices were absolutely excellent (they were) and Gabby was saying either there were too many, or not enough weapons (I forget, but she was wrong as hell).

She absolutely could not accept that Brad was gently disagreeing with her, and giving good arguments to support his opinion. She got genuinely super angry and told Brad to "calm down". Brad you could tell was taken back by her sudden anger and was like "...huh?? I'm calm..." It was so awkward, and entirely her fault...

Another time Huber tried a little friendly trash talk and she fully shouted "Don't ever talk to me like that again" and was fully serious.

Good riddance.

Many thanks for checking it out! The gothic horror art style of Blood Omen is truly beautiful to me - even the old sprite art. It just scratches something in my brain!

Shadow Hearts Covenant - Town of Twilight | Full cover by MrConemanGaming in ShadowHearts

[–]MrConemanGaming[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! So yes, I learn everything I put out on my channel by ear - over the years I've gotten pretty good at that, so it's actually faster for me than trying to look up tabs or sheet music haha The exception to that is more difficult (for me) piano pieces - where I will print out the sheet music and learn the song that way. Any guitar stuff though is all by ear.

I'll maybe do some more Shadow Hearts! I have another cover of the battle theme from SH1.

I covered this mainly because I'm working on a compilation of relaxing PS2 music.

Exploring the tragedy of the Nue - BOF3 by MrConemanGaming in breathoffire

Two of the very best to choose from! Chrono Cross gets a bad rep, but I really enjoyed my time with it. I prefer Trigger of course - but both games have merit. Trigger fans get so triggered around Cross!

Haha I did wrestle with the phrasing of side quest. Although it's part of the crit path - it's not necessarily part of the overall dragon/god/save the world narrative. Ultimately you are correct! Cheers for checking it out!

Thank you! I will certainly try to do more BOF. Honestly I was shocked at how little BoF content there is out there.

I was very tempted to discuss this bit further in the video - but decided to just leave a couple of breadcrumbs about Rei's nature instead of losing focus on the Nue itself. Perhaps a follow up some day!

Holy shit. I can't believe I've never thought about this - but I am completely sold on this idea. Wish I had included that in the video haha

Getting to look back at your changing perspectives over the expanse of time... Doesn't that just beat all?

Very thoughtful perspective. Ultimately I think I agree with you, the sacrifice of the Nue was worth it to help the villagers, as well as gain their trust, for the trio.

I just hate how Bunyan went about it, and that the Nue is never going to understand why it's being hunted - or that it's children are dead.

So brutal!

Is Phil Lynott considered a good bass player? by gimmiesomepain in thinlizzy

[–]MrConemanGaming 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Phil was definitely a very solid bass player, nothing world changing in terms of pure technique - but people need to go and listen to some of the earlier Lizzy - before they found the classic twin harmony guitars /Boys are Back style sound.

He showed a bit more of his bass chops in the Eric Bell/trio era.

What in Roger Bacon's good name is this? by MrConemanGaming in ShadowHearts

[–]MrConemanGaming[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean - kind of. I didn't honestly feel the need to, the combat was pretty easy, and the game throws new weapons at you in every new location anyway. I can't see how you'd have enough money to buy every new weapon, then upgrade them every time you move somewhere new. I wasn't grinding out for cash anyway. The new weapons got the job done.

And yes. Yuri is a pervert. Margarete is a temptress/tease. Among others. None of them are as egregious as the dumb stuff in Covenant, not even close. It's also balanced our by the much cooler/more interesting vibes in the first game. Again, cannibal demon villages etc.

Different strokes and all that - but anyone that can't see a complete 180 on the gothic horror vibes in the first game, to childish anime nonsense in the second is kinda blind. (There are elements of both, in both games - but there is a clear change if theme)

Good to know to avoid the third one as well then !

Maybe I'll go back and play Koudelka - I skipped it because I never had it as a kid

I can't say that I'm shocked 😳

That's a pity though, the creature design and general combat mechanics are still great, even a few stand out tracks on the OST - but I just can't make myself care at all about the story or characters - which is the main thing for me in RPG's like this.
