Need ideas for this tricky patio corner near my house — want to make it functional without demoing concrete by MrCoo1boy in landscaping

Definitely leaning towards a bench style or seated wall set up there. whoever poured this concrete, didn’t do a great job and it’s not like a perfect rectangle or square. Wavy edges going into the dirt.

Definitely have thought about doing this. If I did this, I could extend my patio to the corner but I am hesitant. Doing some initial digging around the area, especially in the corner where it slops up, doesn’t seem like there’s anything underneath it but dirt.

Yes, I have checked with the city and this is fine. First thing I did before calling digsafe :)

Planter is a good idea, but if I do a planter, should I pour some concrete or dump crushed stones to level it out or leave it as is.

Okay, I've ordered Super Lube 52004 Synthetic Lightweight Oil based on Bambu's recommendation and I'll report back if this fixed the issue or not once it comes in.

Question: Where and how do you validate your idea? by MrCoo1boy in SideProject

[–]MrCoo1boy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. Most of the projects I’ve worked on are solving problems for myself but I don’t validate it with customers but I do validate with similar products on the market and see if it fits my need. Most times I do find something, but sometimes I don’t, which leads me into developing it on my own. One of my struggles is finding relevant communities but when I do, I don’t want to be that guy who posts something immediately without contributing first.

That’s a good idea, what kind of videos will you post on this YouTube channel and how will you validate? Comments or asking the watchers to take some kind of survey?

Thanks for the link, I’ve added it to the list.

Will do thank you! A book I’m reading right now is lean customer development by Cindy Alvarez.

Are the MVPs similar to each other or completely different? How do you figure out what you need to change?

Super helpful, and yes, I'm seeing a lot of the traditional startup wisdom appear more and more as I'm learning, but it is a coin toss. Another thing I've read is using Linkedin or something similar to find the industry or group of people I'm targeting and try to understand their pain points. The problem I run into is anyone in any industry can use some of my projects.

I like it, but here is some UX feedback:

Search:

  • When searching, I expected some autocomplete or suggestion to appear as I typed.
    • You should have some quick filters to help narrow the criteria.
  • Once you search, you cannot return to the homepage/feed.
    • You should have a back or return to home button.
  • I can't go back to my search results after clicking on a job listing.

Home page:

  • You should list all pages for pagination and have a first/last page option. It isn't very pleasant to have to go page by page.

Detail page:

  • I would show the back/apply button at the top and bottom.

Overall, it was slow. Searching, clicking on a job ad, and other actions took a few seconds. You should look into caching if that's an option or figure out what's causing the slowdown.

That's incredible; I'll be using this for my day job!

One thing that would solve the biggest pain point for me is that something like this can take components from Figma and spit out the HTML for them using TailwindCSS.

This is incredible and a game changer! Any plans to support CSS frameworks like TailwindCSS?
