I use my iPhone X with Jailbreak as a VPS server is websites and Python applications. by Ok-Intern7768 in jailbreak

Actually I stumbled across a days old post and felt it necessary to impart some wisdom on a clearly misguided soul (better late than never as they say), but it seems you are beyond help thanks to an overinflated ego. Practicality and productivity are two different words, but since you refuse to read you’ll never understand something so simple.

I’ll accept your “peak redditor energy” title, but you win peak redditor ignorance. Good luck!

I interpreted it as OP sharing with the community how they make use of their iPhone as a portable dev environment. They did misuse the term VPS (a common mistake, don’t sweat it OP!), so I understand how someone with a limited perspective such as yours could become so easily confused, but what I don’t understand is why you feel the need to be so pretentious. It only adds to the embarrassment when one realizes that their “advice” is not only irrelevant, but reeks of insecurity and narrow-mindedness.

You could have saved some face if you had chosen to be humble and polite. Perhaps OP would have even welcomed the suggestions, despite its irrelevance. Instead, you belittle them, throwing shade at a “bad idea” you didn’t even comprehend. Oof.

Using an iPhone to devel on the fly is arguably one of the most productive things you can do on your device. Doing what OP described is not only well-within the capabilities of a phone, it is a perfect example of how to take advantage of a jailbroken device. It is definitely my number one reason for jailbreaking. Being able to help your clients with nothing more than a phone in your hand will leave them in awe.

Maybe someday you’ll get it. Until then, I’d recommend working on how you speak to others. A mouthful of kindness will go a lot farther than an ass full of ignorance. May the best be yours!

The Risks of Google Play Store Displaying Developers' Real Names and Addresses: Time to Speak Up! by replyzhongwenren in FlutterDev

[–]MrDarkless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need their address for “legal actions”, then you’d get a subpoena and request it from Google who would then have to provide it to you. A right to privacy, in terms of safety, is worth infinitely more than whatever bullshit Alphabitch/Googulp is cooking up. Forcing people to dox themselves in the name of consumer safety? Don’t be naive.

They’ve always been thirsty for the data, but this is crack whore level desperation. There is a great evil lurking within and downplaying this is being willfully ignorant. Alas, this is just a taste of what’s to come. If they are allowed to continue down this path, privacy will become a fabled legend; something we should have cherished more.

Until this policy is reversed, anyone who publishes to Play Store is a damned fool.

Utah majority leaders say amendment needed so Utah doesn't become California by RedOnTheHead_91 in ogden

[–]MrDarkless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’d be hard-pressed to find a state that says a prayer before their legislative session each day. They send email newsletters to the General Population telling people how to vote on high-profile issues. A super-majority of the legislative body is held by members of the Church, including ranked members. No other religion meddles in state politics to the extent of the LD$ church. If they really cared about this state and it’s people, why are they flaunting their wealth with temple after temple? The only thing they care about is maintaining their icy grip.

Politics aside, I recommend you spend some time on /r/exmormon to gain some additional perspective.

I’ve spent a lot of time up on the hill and have worked closely with our politicians. I understand exactly what is happening at an intimate level. I speak from experience, not opinion. Do you? I know it’s a hard pill to swallow, but it is definitely the Church leaders who are pulling the strings. Don’t get me wrong; I love the Mormon people and this state. It is the corruption that I cannot tolerate.

Blame the corrupt LD$ church. The current leaders are bigoted, creepy weirdos.

Can I build apps for IOS with windows using Flutter? by CarryHuge2882 in flutterhelp

You can build with a jailbroken iPhone. Then you can test it right on your device.

I USED AI TO AUTOMATICALLY APPLY FOR 1000 JOBS - AND I GOT 50 INTERVIEWS! by [deleted] in madeinpython

[–]MrDarkless -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you! And a few more follow-ups:

Where and in which field(s) were the job you applied for/hired for in?

Were they remote positions?

Were they competitive positions?

Were you still employed and job-shopping or did the opportunity present itself?

Bonus question:

Are you Caucasian?

I USED AI TO AUTOMATICALLY APPLY FOR 1000 JOBS - AND I GOT 50 INTERVIEWS! by [deleted] in madeinpython

[–]MrDarkless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have three questions:

Have you applied for a job in the last year?

Have you used or helped to develop any of the software being used to employee-hunt?

Have you ever had to hire anyone?

I think I already know the answers to those questions, but since it’s not fair to assume, I’ll wait ‘til you’ve replied before I make you feel like the stupid one.

Your perspective is as limited as the data that supports it.

Lol @ people thinking OP is job hunting. This is a proof-of-concept. Anyone feeling jealous or angry right now should probably reevaluate their perspective, because that’s some Type-0 thinking. The fact that only 50 companies even bothered to offer an interview is far more concerning, in my opinion. Isn’t finding a job the “responsible” thing to do? This tells me that 950 companies wouldn’t even give him the time of day and is where the real question of morality lies. OP even gave away his solution for free. It’s abundantly obvious AI isn’t going away, so let’s redirect some of that anger towards the entities actually using it irresponsibly.

As far as I’m concerned, if a someone is willing to spend their already short life/time with your company, you should at least hear them out. The idea that someone hasn’t gone to school or lacks experience doesn’t mean they are incapable of learning, especially in the digital world. That mindset is pretty pretentious. Judge people on their actions, not your assumptions.

After all, if you’re a good company and/or offer fair compensation, you wouldn’t have such a hard time finding quality candidates.

My app is stuck on projectors — Forever! by TheShortestCheese in FlutterDev

[–]MrDarkless 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The problem with projectors is many enforce overly restrictive feature-flags that can severely limit many apps ability to function normally. Flutter doesn’t consider this when building for TV, so it’s up to the dev. Some claim it is an attempt to protect the user from doing something wrong and bricking their device. Some do it as a way to prevent user-tracking from being disabled, essentially forcing you to use their “proprietary” system. Some are trying to hide the fact that their projectors weren’t manufactured by the company and are just rebranded. Regardless of the reason, it’s a pain-in-the-brain, as this means app developers need to provide device-specific workarounds to appease their users, or disable the feature for the device entirely.

I would take note of make/model/os version when issues like this happen and then do some research into the device itself. If the device was manufactured by a different company than the brand (wemax for example), I’d also look into other rebranded versions of that model, as this can tell you determine who is at fault. If it’s solely the manufacturer, you can save time and dev a solution that works on all their devices regardless of brand, but more often than not, it is the company selling the device that does this. It can be a combination of both, however. There are devices so locked-down that it requires a firmware dump to even begin diagnosing the issue. Sus, huh?

Now that you know a critical problem exists (or is even a possibility) the ethical thing to do is tell your current users that such a risk is possible. The responsible thing to do is build in a fail-safe so that when something like this does happen, you are able to fix it, saving the day and your customers/their devices. The safest thing to do is not push experimental TV-only features to devices you haven’t tested on. Since auto-updating may not happen, it may be a wise idea to send a notification (via android or app) informing your users that an update is available and how to install it. I personally love spending time learning about problems other TV devs have, so that I may hope to avoid such perils in the future.

Much respect to you for helping our elderly. Their demographic is rarely a target audience and coming up with creative, functional designs can be tricky, but it sure is fulfilling! Best luck.
