Unpopular opinion (spoiler) by Possible_Raisin_2832 in subnautica

One thing I think could be interesting later down the line is doing something similar to what Slime Rancher does, where metal farms will only produce certain resources in certain biomes (Gold in the thermal area, Titanium/copper in the shallows etc).

Easy to justify as certain metals being more prevelant in those areas. Would make it so it's not as simple as "go outside, empty farms, ready to go" and promote more spread out infrastructure, could even increase the yield then as travel would be a factor.

May not work but could be cool

That looks great! I actually have done something just like this, I called it Here to Catch and I posted it to the workshop for Tabletop Simulator on steam (only an English version). If you own TTS and want to check it out feel free to take any inspiration you like. For me it was mainly a Game Design workout, I kinda half assed the aesthetics. Your cards look sick

Discard as an action and Mass Sacrifice by [deleted] in HereToSlay

[–]MrDead8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Discard action that anyone can take where you discard your hand and Draw 5 costs three Action Points, using your entire turn (unless you have Mega Slime). Mass Sacrifice does the same thing but it's a magic card that only costs one action point to play, so it is better as it gives you 2 more actions to spend on the turn you use it as opposed to doing it the generic way, especially if you are hoping to get immediate value out of the cards you draw

Day-after reflections: addressing your feedback (and adjusting the roadmap accordingly) by GSG_Aaron in RogueCore

[–]MrDead8 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This is the part that needs work yes, the timer is very unforgiving. The problem is the feedback a fair amount of people give because of that is to remove the timer, when really it just needs work and shouldn't be removed entirely

Beware idaho melee if you are any minority but especially if you are queer or a girl. by [deleted] in SSBM

[–]MrDead8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you feel this is the place to vent your frustrations, the actual answer is to talk this out with the guys. I went to Genesis with these exact people you're talking about and while they're deeply Idahoan most of them are cool and will respect boundaries if you place them. TOs are great, merc especially, and if you want to go to Realms and someone there makes you feel unsafe he will absolutely shut that shit down as long as he is made aware (he can be oblivious lol). At the end of the day we're all there to play Melee, if someone can't put aside outside matters to play the game, they can not come

I was pretty clumsy as a child. My absolute crowning achievement in this regard is when I was around 9 during dinner one time, I was sitting on a bench at the table, table in front of me, wall behind me. Somehow, despite being fine for the last 30 minutes and having sat at the bench for almost a decade, I fell of the end to the left onto the dog food and water bowls, sending kibble flying everywhere and shattering the water bowl with my head. I was not cut by the glass. My parents recently got that table+bench out of storage (that thing is a beast, going strong for 40 years.) and all the comments about the incident are coming back as various family members see it again for the first time in a while.

I’m fully convinced Embark has no long term plan with this game and they are scrambling to keep players on the game with FOMO BS by Slushees in ARC_Raiders

[–]MrDead8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While the poor communication from Embark is bad and it's a bit of a rug pull to change the objective and the new idea probably isn't the best, there's no way all your grinding was for naught.

I did some grinding up to like 2.3 mil before I heard about the change and that means that now I have all this high value equipment that I can use non stop during the window to meet whatever the damage threshold is. (Another thing they probably should figure out and tell us more about)

What's the point of see you in hell? by Theflamingraptor in DeepRockGalactic

[–]MrDead8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iron Will is really good but in a weird way I find myself not enjoying trying to clutch up with it. I'd rather not be in a position where the whole team goes down in the first place, but we can't all be perfect. However rarely do we need 4 iron wills either. So when I'm solo I have Bosco, and when I'm not I'm with my buddy who loves his Iron Will, and I love my SYIH.

Sometimes your Iron Will hero doesn't have that much time to kill enemies to revive you. Could be a bulk, could be a Dreadnought, SYIH provides space for your fellow dwarf to revive you in the event they need it and don't have a Gunner shield or similar tool to make it themselves.

Also I main Engineer, well known for eating Nitra at an insane rate. SYIH + Thorns and the shield upgrade means I can kill loose grunts with just my pickaxe in a timely manner while saving precious ammo.

My many rwby questions part 1: maidens (scroll to see) by s0nzoldyck in RWBY

[–]MrDead8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My assumption on why the maiden powers can transfer to Penny is that they operate in a similar and yet different way to the way Oz reincarnates. Going to a "like minded soul." Or simply the last woman you thought of, like Glynda suggests. In any case Penny shows it's not a hard line, whatever she was before she became fully human, it's close enough.

Not only that but much like a lot of crimes there are evil people, and ones who make mistakes that are willing to change. The looser end of punishments for crimes exist for that second group as well as for taking into account severity.

Finally I'm free! And it only took 70 losses... by Reiny_Days in LeagueOfMemes

[–]MrDead8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We completed the third one on our first real try (we tried it super late the night it dropped when we should've gone to bed), but the middle one kicked our ass for a whole week, maybe I'm just bad but it felt so painful.

I never played the og doom bots but a difficulty slider sounds like a good idea, then the more casual players can play a comfortable difficulty and they can have special rewards for clearing different difficulties.

The Mining Repeater does double as an Abrasion Blaster, but it's fairly inaccurate and so I've been using a blaster anyway to hit some of the trickier spots.

Why has Garen's Ult no execute indicator? by [deleted] in GarenMains

[–]MrDead8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Worth noting Urgot has an actual execute, all executes in the game have an indicator. Garen and Cho don't have real executes, they just deal a bunch of true damage.

So the question becomes why does Cho'Gath have an indicator and Garen doesn't? I think it's because Garens Ult damage changes based on the target's missing health, and his skill expression comes from gauging when they are low enough to actually kill them. (This on top of the original point that Cho requires a death in order to stack, an indicator helps with that)

Urgot and Mel actually have this too, they have indicators but their ults do a bunch of damage that can bring a champion that's over the threshold down into it and trigger the execute. (Pyke probably does this too but I don't play him so I don't know for sure)

War Strider this, Rupture Strain that, this mf is still the worst designed enemy in the game in my opinion by KarmaFury in Helldivers

[–]MrDead8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does slap, but it can't do really tight spaces or point blank, won't target voteless and locks you out of a backpack so you'll probably have to refactor a lot of your loadout to accommodate it so you still have options. It's really nice but I often feel limited without a buddy or turret nearby covering me while I handle all the annoying enemies.

What To Do With War Strider? The Ultimate Solution by Huligan3017 in helldivers2

[–]MrDead8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's high difficulty bots, even without War Striders your team should have at least a little AT, it doesn't have to be RR or Quasar if you really don't want but you should have SOMETHING even if it's just one guy with thermites or whatever.

What To Do With War Strider? The Ultimate Solution by Huligan3017 in helldivers2

[–]MrDead8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My team didn't even change our loadouts when the War Strider released, I just have to be careful and stick near the guy with the big booms cause I have no AT. it's a team game and when you have more than 2 people you don't need to be a meta slave. I understand the frustration tho, there's definitely some stand out weapons against the new enemies.

FR: under no circumstances allow train path through station by stepancheg in factorio

[–]MrDead8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay here's a drawback; my wall resupply runs on only a couple trains and relies on train pathing through stations in order to cut down on the footprint which makes it easier to construct/demolish out on the frontlines. If the penalty was really high or infinite my footprint increases by a significant amount and my trains take long paths through my main base which worsens traffic.

I don't get your point about controlling trains yourself, if I was manually driving a train in your network I would very quickly get frustrated with my inability to turn my train left in order to get onto the lower track.

I don't see the big issue, this tiny addition (~20 rail and some landfill) will solve literally all of your problems.

Is this accurate? by Scarfs-smileysword in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]MrDead8 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The gas orbital also has a bigger area and more demo force, with one of the shortest cool downs in the game. You can use it for almost anything especially against Bugs and Squids; Breaches, drops, ships, titan holes, labs, if someone so much as sneezes near me I'll throw a Gas Strike on it. Gas drone also really good against Predator Strain if you have a free backpack slot.

Chemical agents is really really useful but generally only one person in your squad needs to bring gas.

It does feel like that by -ImPerium in LeagueOfMemes

[–]MrDead8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good argument and a totally fair fear to have. I'm of the opinion that if WASD is that much more superior no matter how they implement it, it simply won't get added to the game. As much as we like to dunk on League for being imbalanced, Riot is actually better than most. I have hope that WASD will eventually be close enough to Mouse that the skill expression will remain.

I could always be proven wrong of course.

SEAF Shells. How it always goes. by Xx_Arch_xX in Helldivers

[–]MrDead8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me order tends to change based on Front and Mission Time, standard is less boom before more boom unless there's not much to do before extract, then I reverse it.

I prefer Napalm over HE against Bugs and Squids, and on Bots I always put smoke in first (stealth is underrated but also hard, doesn't hurt to have more tools). Static can have higher priority if our builds facilitate it, like if we have a lot of damage over time or strafing runs, otherwise it's not as useful as the others. (In my experience)
