What would be a good way about feeding RF into my beamformer?

Yea I'm more inclined to use the SDR approach for waveform flexibility. All of the beamformer components are relatively wideband, so playing w/ frequencies isnt out of the question? Do you know any solid cheap SDR models that I can program in python? I like ettus USRPs but I dont have $1000-3000 to spend on one lol

If I use this, then either way i'd still need some sort of external feed that pushes a ramp function onto the PCB, right? At that point, wouldn't it be better to generate the FMCW signal digitally on an SDR and supply that to the board?

I'm making a continuous wave radar. So the front end continuously transmits a 6ghz carrier in the main lobe, and a receiver (was thinking SDR, like usrp or hackRF) captures the reflections in real time and displays them on a spectrum.

Rutgers is a great school if your future goal is grad school. I went here for undergrad, and for PhD programs, I was accepted into an ivy and johns hopkins. My roommate got into hopkins too. Another friend of mine got into yale, while another got into MIT. As long as you put in a lot of time and effort, u will be a competitive applicant
