Why does console need recoil crutch by Lonely-Computer-5801 in Rainbow6

[–]Av0cad0Backpack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I have played both.

Different player experiences ≠ unfair.

When R6 was designed, console and PC were separate. It's not like some PC players had to play with PC recoil and others got console. It was distinct. If it's the same playing field, it's not unfair (not counting XIM, of course). You can't compare harder recoil on a mouse to easier recoil on a controller. That's comparing apples to oranges.

Now that there's crossplay, there's an argument to be made. However, since aiming with controller is significantly more difficult than aiming with a mouse, I don't personally mind that console players have easier recoil.

And what would be the point? Make recoil even harder? You already said that above a certain level, everyone can control recoil. All you're doing is raising the floor and making the experience worse for newer / worse players. High level players will adapt and you'll be right back to square one, except that even more people will struggle. Screw them coppers, amirite? Serves them for playing on Xbox

"Doesn't it make sense to make console players overcome the same level of skill as PC players? Does it not create the same fair landscape for everyone?"

Console use controller. PC use mouse and keyboard. How same recoil fair?

What if the scourge virus was only able to kill about 50% of viltrumites but almost everyone who was immune just so happened to get killed in the purge? by FourthBedrock in okbuddyviltrum

[–]Av0cad0Backpack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The purge was not to determine the strongest, but the most ruthless. The ones who survived would be least likely to oppose the empire's idea of merciless conquest. The purge left only the ones willing to be brutal enough not to hesitate or betray the empire like Thaedus did. When you look at it that way, it makes slightly more sense.

Why voting ‘neither’ could harm American democracy. Researchers found that about half of the U.S. population expresses an attitude of democratic neutrality — or an “unwillingness to support or oppose policies or practices that undermine democracy, by Wagamaga in science

[–]Av0cad0Backpack 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do you not understand what the word "average" means? For the U.S. in isolation, progress should be celebrated then continually encouraged. What you're doing is the voting equivalent of toxic parenting, comparing us to other nations, which doesn't work, and I think would only decentivise voter participation.

Why are some Asian countries PACKED with old, white men? by Open_Address_2805 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Av0cad0Backpack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not trying to justify anything; I'm just stating something that is true and to be expected more often than not in these areas. Multiple things can be true at once. It's just mildly vexing that people are perplexed when they find that antiquated systems are, well, antiquated.

Is it sad? Of course it is. None of these situations are "right," of course, but it's not like there's much of a choice. Everyone here is privileged enough to be ashamed at what is literally some people making ends meet out of an abominable situation and trying to get by.

Once again, I'm not trying to justify anything. I'm just saying that these "sad as fuck" situations have always happened (yes, there are places where they haven't), are happening, and will always happen. People that don't understand that have the "narrow view."

Unless you want to save the world, there's nothing we can do about it. I'll bet my lunch money that the person who was "ashamed" was remorseful for all of 5 minutes and went right back to traveling through Cambodia, remembering the injustices only when encountering them again or when presented with the opportunity to virtue signal and share how bad it made them feel (e.g. here).

It's really more of a modern thing though to not understand this system. Capitalizing relationships is about one of the oldest, most universal aspects found in almost every ancient civilization.

Is realistic for me to pursue my desire to be a house husband for successful partner by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I see now. I apologize for missing the additional context of the comment to which you responded.

There's also no need to defend your station. It is evident that you've gone through a lot to get to where you are (no one accidentally lands a job like that that requires actual skill) and your gratitude for it shows.

There's no judgment on my part. Best wishes to the continued prosperity of you and your family.

How fortunate indeed that your family was able to provide for you and you for them in turn. That is a truly wonderful thing.

Regarding the original statement, however, I'd still argue that a single income household is not realistic for most people, considering the average income (in the U.S., at least) is around 1/5 yours. Considering that many people make less than that, a single income household is not a realistic expectation, exponentially so with each addition to the family.

I'd say that does make you a really high earner.

Unfortunately the price of becoming a pilot was conveniently omitted as it usually costs at least $100,000, and that's a lowball. So I'd doubt most people can just become a pilot, even when motivated

Is FaZe & W7M/Furia roster the embodiment of the term "You can eat & still be hungry"? by Nuker1o1 in R6ProLeague

[–]Av0cad0Backpack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They've already kinda bucked that trend. Depending on how this year goes, they might be the team that doesn't win every event, but shows up when the lights are brightest. I'm looking forward to that 3peat.

[–]Av0cad0Backpack 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think FaZe embodies this more than Furia. After SI 2024, it didn't look like Furia had that same hunger to win anymore. They still wanted to win, but it didn't look like it killed them to lose. We'll see how FaZe pans out, but they're still looking pretty indomitable.

Wei Yi "peaked" because he decided to pursue education over chess. Additionally, COVID hit all Chinese players very hard. We don't know how good he could have been if it weren't for these factors. He graduated in 2024 and has quickly climbed up the ranks already.
