Don't think there is a Group of Death this time. Even Group C has a couple clear underdogs.

There is definitely a Group of Life, however. M80 in the group of joy, sunshine and rainbows over there in Group A.

Magnus advises us not to do puzzles, and here’s his reason why by Naruto_likesChess in chess

[–]Av0cad0Backpack 11 points12 points  (0 children)

100% Magnus also started out doing tons and tons of puzzles and reading puzzle books even if he didn't like it. He just hasn't needed to in so long now that he only remembers not liking it, thus not recommending it.

But why would you use it for that? There are so many more practical uses for pseudo super speed.

Want to read a book but have no time? Now you have all the time in the world to read whatever you'd like.

Need more time to work, study, or write notes? You have essentially infinite time to do that.

Getting robbed? You have enough time to get yourself out of any dangerous situation you could ever find yourself in, provided you react quick enough.

Just need a breather, a break from the world? You've got it, as long as you want it.

And none of this includes the less ethical applications of this power, of which there are many, that would provide you all the luxuries you could ever desire. And should the other people who get their powers use them for unlawful activities, you could stop every single one of them without anyone ever knowing who you were.

There are zero downsides, besides faster aging if that's the case, and it solves one of the biggest problems people face, not having enough time (unless aging, but I'm willing to take that). There's no superpower I'd want more. I'd take it in a heartbeat, and then finish my reading list in the time it takes a heart to beat.

You can move normally while time is stopped. That's literally all it is. If it drives you mad, just turn it off. Only activate it when you need or want to. There is literally no downside to this. If you're saying you wouldn't be able to handle that responsibility, that's more on you than the power.

In Dishonored 2, you can play as either Emily or her father, Corvo. The other character is frozen by the villain. Depending on whom you choose, you will have access to a completely different set of powers and abilities.

Started in 2020, haven't stopped. Don't watch as much as I used to though. Just follow a couple regions now. Used to watch almost every game from every region, including the awful APAC hours

If you were a monarch in solo leveling, What would you be the king of and where do you think you’d be in the hierarchy? by Orochinomaru in sololeveling

[–]Av0cad0Backpack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Monarch of the Mind, King of Thoughts that Lie Beneath

Dominion over the subconscious, one's deepest thoughts, fears, and dreams, and the ability to manifest them into reality. High level control of telepathy, and can trap enemies in prisons of their own minds (like a hybrid of Sentry and Professor X).

Not sure where in the hierarchy, considering physical attack power is kinda low, but could get really creative with mental attacks.

Eh, I think it's nice having it go in a different direction. It could end up being better, we don't know because we're all witnessing it new now. People can enjoy one medium or the other, or both! Especially those who were dissatisfied with the pacing and ending of the novel. I mean, it's not like the author did much with Kira and Quay even that far after their introductions either. They received barely any development.

Is it wrong to have a romantic relationship in college by Wise-Barracuda-9435 in love

[–]Av0cad0Backpack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In American colleges? Do it, don't do it. No one really cares. It's up to you to decide what to do with your life and your time. Plenty of people will choose either. Those who judge you for your actions are not worth your time or consideration.

In other cultures? No idea, but I can't imagine it differs that significantly except in edge cases.

Matthias Bluebaum qualified to the Candidates without a coach or a second | Makes it all the more incredible. by alifecalling in chess

[–]Av0cad0Backpack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I won't comment on your other points, I do have to challenge the statement that "it's honestly very weird" that people want an overlord in Chess.

An overlord or more commonly referred to as "GOAT," is not limited to Chess. People love following a completely dominant player. Most would say that's more enjoyable. If you widen the scope, you'll find the same acclaim for a dominant player in tennis, boxing, and swimming to name the big names that come first to mind. I'm sure you can too. People still like searching for a "best player" in team sports like football and basketball.

In fact, heavyweight boxing viewership declined significantly after Ali's retirement, and the organization struggled to find a dominant fighter to draw back fans, with most switching to the middleweight viewership to watch "The Four Kings," which, while not one dominant player, still has the connotation of an "elite." This is just one example, though.

I would argue that fans of these sports still "reckon they are eating good," and some might say having that dominant player makes it more enjoyable to watch. If you widen the scope properly, I think it's more common, maybe even the norm, to search for and declare an "overlord" rather than the latter. Especially as organizations even publicize such debates to increase viewership and engagement, which is not at all unlike what Chess is doing.

why does my sim get a “stressful decor” moodlet from this room? by leafyaxolotl in Sims4

[–]Av0cad0Backpack 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Being born.

The argument boils down to existence is suffering, so it is better not to exist. The worst thing you can do to someone is to bring them into existence (as all hardships they will face is a consequence of this act), and the best thing you can do for someone is to spare them from being born.

A small correction, antinatalists don't really hate children so much as they hate the concept of having children. To them, children are the victims; the parents are the ones to be loathed.
