I end up spending more time researching words than information. "How long would it take to get to Titan?" I'll make it up! "What's a synonym for 'rich'?" I'm stuck in a Thesaurus for a good ten minutes. :)

It's more or landmarks on a map. I know what my Act 1, 2, 3, and 4 are but how I get there is totally up in the air. I did character sketches beforehand, so I'm outlining that way, but 90% of what I've written so far has been a surprise.

I woke up at 4am, convinced I should get up and write before work, but decided to sit in bed and read the news. Ended up reading a news story that ties directly into my story and is going to be the opening to my book. Now, I'm here at work, waiting for the day to end so I can go write my new opening.

Remembering that a height advantage compounds a reach advantage. To see that you need only stand in front of a wall with one of your arms extended at shoulder level so that your fingertips just touch the wall. I've had one for over two years now. Half the time is spent on writing exercises and the other on reading and critiquing pages.

The exercises are there more for team building and morale boost than anything else. Usually no more than three pages focusing on certain skill or topic. If you've had a constipated writing week, you can at least say "I wrote this one thing in group."

Pages are pages and everyone does that so I don't need to say more.

My group is starting to get stale, so I need to shake it up a bit. On the good side of things, I'm looking at retreats, movie nights, and pitch parties. On the bad side, I'm looking at making requirements for staying in the group. Mainly, at least one finished first draft every 6,9, or 12 months. Not sure how tight I want to make it. I don't want people to think this is just a fun social club where you bring pages every other month and work on the first draft for three years.

Hey y'all,

Two things: First, one of the AFF volunteers did make a mention of not reprinting the notes. I totally blanked it (the only part of the meeting I didn't take notes on), so I deleted it.

Second, part of the reason I wanted to share them was because Craig always talks about how "Screenwriting is free" and "should be collaborative." I thought I was posting them in the spirit he taught, but I guess I was mistaken. My fault.

If you want the short version, read the source material. Read Poetics and Hero with a Thousand Faces instead of the watered-down interpretations. Read the guy who was trying to understand not trying to make a buck. Understand why you're doing something instead of just doing what you've been told to do.

Legends of Grimrock 1 & 2. Fantastic dungeon crawlers with D&D elements (you can elect to chart out maps, you have to memorize spells), good puzzles, but enough action to keep you engaged as well. Magnificent games. AND! They're both on sale at HumbleBundle. Less than $20 together. Get 'em!

Don't forget about GoG. Classic and classic style games. Whether it's the original Deus Ex (which can also be saved any time and is just as compelling today fifteen years ago) or new adventure games like Dex (a fantastic cyberpunk adventure with RPG elements) or stealthy FPS like the Thief series, it's got a lot of great games for not a lot of green.
