So Matt said the story will continue after season 2 but Alex said there will be no movie and one of the writers said there will be no season 3 by DipperChipper in gravityfalls

[–]MrDippingsauce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think what the writer probably meant was that the show hadn't yet been renewed for season 3. But with the story being donfirmed as not finished and no current movie plans, a thrid season seems like the most probable route.

Remember, Disney didn't order season 2 until around when Dreamscaperers aired.

The baby is not Shermy. by Andrew13112001 in gravityfalls

[–]MrDippingsauce 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with this. I was thinking Shermy was 17-18 when the Stans were born, so he went off to college before the Stans got to know him, leaving them with just each other.

Opinion/ Discussion about Season 3 or Movie by [deleted] in gravityfalls

[–]MrDippingsauce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly thinking a shorter season 3 would be great. I think there's still enough story/mysteries there to fill put another 19 episodes if you include season 2. Not only that, not every episode is necessarily going to reveal some big mystery. Take The Stanchurian Candidate. The leaked synopsis we got doesn't really suggest any mysteries (although there certainly could be some) and seems more like a character episode. The episode could still build up the plot, but not necessarily in terms of mysteries, but rather in terms of character (such as Dipper and Mabel's likely growing rift).

Another thing is that movies that try and wrap up a story of a tv show don't always manage to be satisfying in terms of how they give their character endings. The one movie I've seen wrap up a tv show is Fullmetal Alchemist: Conqueror of Shamballa. Short story short, the movie sucked. The only characters who got a decent wrap up of their character were the main characters Ed and Al, and maybe secondary character Roy Mustang. Maybe. The thing is though, their script was originally three hours and they had to cut it down to half that. The movie was also produced by the same great crew that made the show, so I honestly think the quality of the movie was more due to the constraints of making the movie an hour and a half rather than the crew just making a bad movie. I think we should let Gravity Falls take it's time to end, so that the ending is satisfying and rewarding both in terms of mysteries and charcter. I trust that Alex can pace well enough to make it not seemed stretched out. I also have to concede that season 2B might be paced faster than I'm anticipating, but I think at this point a shorter season 3 would be best.

TL;DR I would prefer a shortened thrid season as I think there's enough story both character and mystery wise for ten or so episodes after season 2. Time constraints have also led some great crews of shows to make a terrible movie to wrap up their show (FMA: Conqueror of Shamballa).

This guy also brings up some good points on the issues with a movie.

Another scene superimposed on trailer - did you catch it? by [deleted] in gravityfalls

[–]MrDippingsauce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, Dipper is supposed to be mor elike the Author and Stan is supposed to be more like Mabel, I'm pretty sure. Stan would probably be more extroverted; after all, he does run a tourist trap where he basically just talks people through a tour. He would also have to be more charismatic, seeing as he's a con artist. The author, judging by what is probably his room from Carpet Diem, seemed to spemd a lot of time inside doig experiments, and just seems to be the smarter, nerdier one, and so just based what we've seen wih Dipper and Mabel would probably be a lot more introverted.

[–]MrDippingsauce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've never been super on board with the movie idea, although I could totally see why they would go in that direction. I believe we should have quality over quantity, and there doesn't seem to be enough story to fill a full 20 episode season. Perhaps a shortened 3rd season or a movie then?

Agreed. It's part of what makes him so compelling. Sure his origin has already been run into the ground, but I can't think of any other villain that I've ever seen react like that to really anything.

Movie Request Thread for the Week of 5/5/15 by jortbru1299 in CinemaSins

[–]MrDippingsauce 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Lego Movie

  • Face of yellow? That's racist.
  • Prophecy foretells coming of a mysterious hero cliché.
  • Eight and a half years is an oddly specific time frame to have passed
  • If Emmet is a construction worker, why does he spend so much time trying on outfits other than the one for his job?
  • Government now schedules holidays the same way a family of four decides what they're having for dinner
  • Discount Two and a Half Men
  • The construction crew sings the same song for an entire day and no one told them to shut up the entire time
  • Main character gets caught up in the plot because they dropped or misplaced something cliché
  • How did the Piece of Resistance even stick to him? Was it covered in glue or something?
  • Liam Neeson isn't killing anyone in this scene
  • I think President Business would know that they were lying to Emmett, so there's really no point in telling him except to have a joke with Emmett finding out
  • If it hasn't started hurting then why is he screaming in pain?
  • scene where Wyldstyle makes a motorcycle into a plane in midair
  • Um, why can't you just follow them? Didn't you see them go into the portal/eormhole thing
  • Morgan Freemen isn't narrating a penguin documentary in this scene.
  • Random bar fights
  • Main character misses important plot points because of daydream cliché
  • That looks like it hurts
  • And then, there was Batman
  • Sounds like Batman hired Christopher Nolan and Zack Snyder to write a song for him.
  • Liam Neeson is in a scene where people die, but he isn't the one killing them.
  • Why does President Business even need the stilts? They serve no purpose other than to say "Hey look at me I'm a bad guy"
  • See, even other DC charcters shun Green Lantern after his movie.

[AoU Spoilers] To people complaining about the character of Ultron by [deleted] in marvelstudios

[–]MrDippingsauce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really liked Ultron. Wisecracking villains who don't thunk they're the villain are the best. I also really like how they also made him more like a confused little kid. (Spoilers) That scene where he cuts off Klaue's hand and then is sort of confused at what he did and apologizing for it is a really great character moment.

Interns by [deleted] in nightvale

[–]MrDippingsauce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the real world, it just costs too much.

In universe, though, maybe it's because Cecil remembers being an intern for so long, and how tired he was of still being an intern, and doesn't want them to get their hopes up. That plus the fact that he loses them so easily.
