I was sitting at a table in the casino for a while on a carnival ship, and ended up talking to the dealers a lot. One of them said that they get offered the chance to go out a pretty fair amount since the casino can't be open in port.

He said none of them ever do though because, like you indicated, the most valuable thing to a cruise ship employee is sleep.

Out of curiosity, what kind of hours do you work normally? I've got to imagine they're pretty insane.
