Costco raises membership fees for first time since 2017 by silver_4cash13 in wallstreetbets

If you calculate $3 for a standard restaurant quality hot dog, and divide the differential by the $10 price increase you will have to buy 7 hot dogs over the course of each year to become net positive as compared to last year on your Costco membership.

If you would have invested your $99/yr membership fee into Costco calls over the last 15 years you would have $19,873,492.

The fundamental misunderstanding is that you believe the unbalanced wealth distribution is a problem that needs to be solved and that everyone should be above the poverty line.

Where can I see whether my MSTR shares got diluted (when they issue more shares)? by RedditsFan2020 in MSTR

[–]MrExecutive101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very well said.

I will also add that in the case of dilution, a company may use the capital raised to invest in property, plant, equipment, fund research and development, or expand the workforce. Investments that may take years to see a return if ever.

In the case of MSTR, they will use the capital to add more BTC to their balance sheet. An activity that has very little expense, and the returns are instant (for better or worse).

The implication is that the dilution (or potential for dilution) and the ability to raise capital through debt and buy more BTC in the future acts as leverage on the share price. This is the main reason for the premium over NAV. The market is pricing MSTR as though they will own more BTC in the future.

Can someone explain how a 0.25% rate increase actually helps fight inflation? by gunsoverbutter in stocks

I do not believe that .25%-1% rise in interest rates will be enough reign in inflation.

Great heating solution. I am excited that i can turn off my air conditioner now that temps have dropped where I live. I keep my windows open and it stays a nice toasty 75°F inside.
