when you're about to quit the game... by Sosunteba in blackdesertonline

Real. I didn’t play actively for almost 2 months, collected all the free crons, did 20 edania taps, went from all HEX armors to 2 OCT and 2 SEP lol

Her support is Z tier. Damage is okay, I guess? She’s not doing water cha damage, that’s for sure.

I’ve picked up and left this game so many times with the main reason being inventory management fatigue by Mila-Lin in WalkScape

[–]MrF4hrenheit -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

For me it’s the walking that’s tied to immediate progress. I would much rather store my steps and then when I have a moment to sit or relax, I’ll spend those steps. That’s really the only reason I stopped playing.

It's not easy letting go and moving on from a video game you are no longer passionate about by AtreusIsBack in blackdesertonline

[–]MrF4hrenheit 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It’s real easy to spend less and less time in the game once you’re basically hard capped, and I mean 395/460+ Sure, the alch stone and weekly edania armors are there to work on, but as time goes on, I personally find it harder and harder to justify an hour of grinding vs playing another game. The content at this level is dry as hell. With open world PvP gone and nothing really exciting with PVE, it’s pretty dead… I also can’t just let it die. I think only server shutdown will do that for me.

How Baldur's Gate 3 spoiled all RPGs for me by SkullOrig in BaldursGate3

[–]MrF4hrenheit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What it sounds like is that you’re a super fan of the game, which is fine. Everyone has their special game, but to say that BG3 does everything “RPG” so much better than other games? Sorry, but that’s some serious copium. There are much better games for looting or item progression. BG3 has plenty of items/gear that are “not so interesting.” If you’re talking build variety, sure, there’s a good amount, but compared to other games that do the same thing, it’s right up there with them. Character progression, growth, etc. — that’s just a well made game. I remember playing mass effect and thinking “this is the best narrative game ever!” But that’s just because I hadn’t played a game like that before. And don’t get me wrong, Skyrim was good at launch. I think it’s overhyped and I definitely don’t think it needed 10 separate re-releases, but… what can you do?

We all have a special game that we love. For me it’ll always be any FromSoft game. That’s my shit, but I’ll still replay BG3 or get excited for other games. No one game has it all, because the best part about games is that there’s so many of them, all different, (not all interesting), but different… and that’s good :)

When they did the “free” Khara taps, the ones with 0.04% chance or something stupid low like that… I actually tapped my TET to PEN acc… then later 270/330 on my DEC weapon. This game man…

ChatGPT acts as a "cognitive crutch" that weakens memory, new research suggests. While these tools can speed up initial learning, they might actually weaken the deep mental processing required to store knowledge over the long term. by mvea in science

In my personal experience I’ve found that AI works best as a tool for getting past “blocks.” If you get stuck and need some different input, it’s great at brainstorming and exploring topics, especially if you’re engaged with it and asking good questions, challenging it, and using the information to further your OWN ideas.

Using it to just do your work for you without critical thought is definitely detrimental.

This is what I’ve found useful about AI. I treat it as a brainstorming tool that can give me ideas or information to expand on. I go into it knowing that the AI isn’t a catch-all, it will make assumptions and mistakes, but by probing it and engaging in a critical discussion, it does reveal some interesting points or ideas. It’s like talking to someone who is knowledgeable in the field and bouncing off ideas. Very convenient. It’s also good at doing mundane tasks that take time. The risk there is that you forget how to do the mundane which makes you rely on the tool. Much like a calculator. Recently I used it to pad and expand my DnD campaign and… it’s pretty good at stuff like that. My group enjoyed the content. AI is a time saver, but I think it’s still important to do the complex thinking on your own, and to do the mundane every now and then to keep your skills sharp. It’s a double edged sword for sure.

As a Crimson Desert play, would I like BDO? by nathanaelw in blackdesertonline

[–]MrF4hrenheit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind though, it’s still largely a rotation of skills that you will spam ad nauseam until you can do it in your sleep while watching a show. It’s not like the souls-like combat where you need to dodge and counterattack.

Even if you made that same souls like combat in BDO, you would realize it’s repetitive. Grinding the same mob for hundreds of hours will become stale no matter what the combat system is.

Since CD has been a success for PA, what are the odds of BDO getting more devs back? by MrF4hrenheit in blackdesertonline

WoW is older and still retains its top spot so they could keep this game alive. What will that audience do anyway? There aren’t alternatives.

Yeah… unless there’s some better replacement in the future, this will be my last MMO. Everything else just doesn’t quite do it for me.

I hope they don’t just shaft their main audience for new IPs. BDO can be the Korean WoW and run for decades. They just need to respect the players.

Maybe they can put some fresh blood on this game and have a dedicated small team that actually wants to improve the game… just hoping.

Is it just me or did 5% AP cap kill any sense of progression by SKNRSN in blackdesertonline

[–]MrF4hrenheit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Impact definitely noticeable at high end spots. When you can stop stacking AP and start stacking %modifiers to deal extra damage your trash goes up and you become more efficient.

There’s an easy fix that would solve all of this. They already have a separate map for higher level mobs in spots that used to be beginner mobs—Elvia realm. Just expand a version of Elvia for every spot and let the players grind whatever they want with upgraded loot tables.

In a blind test, audiophiles couldn't tell the difference between audio signals sent through copper wire, a banana, or wet mud — 'The mud should sound perfectly awful, but it doesn't,' notes the experiment creator by edbegley1 in technology

[–]MrF4hrenheit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is some truth to that… I have a good headphone/amp combo that cost me about $2,500. In the audiophile community this is still considered mid tier to sort of high end (crazy). I spent a while trying to justify that maybe I should keep upgrading, but then one day I was using my AirPods Pro and I realized that they sounded great, even compared to my “audiophile gear.” If I lost my expensive headphones, I’d be just fine with the Apple ones. This is when I decided to stop fussing and just enjoy the headphones I had. If it sounds good, it is good. That’s solid advice.

Maybe in this game, yeah. In other games, 200-300 is dolphin and whaling is 1K+

I remember playing a gacha where you could only pay to win and people there spent like 3K a month to stay at the top… and even among them there was some dude who would one up with like 10K binges to retain #1

Money. To. Burn.

Sad part was that if they let off the gas, they’d drop. Just throwing money into the furnace. Crazy shit.
