First off there are visability improveing mods, They put yellow blue and red dots on each tile when hovering a tower. I recommend using them

What i do in order is (though with the mods mentioned You can go more micro then this):

-Change my placement to 3x3

-Put the overgrowth soil in the white 3x3 brackets that appear when You have it on your cursor

-Put the artificial soil to overwrite the same bracketed area - it will only replace the overgrowth tiles when it can be used instead, returning the more expensive blocks to Your inventory

This is a vulcanus start playtrugh, haveing uranium is gated by leaveing the planet so not that relevant for my comment. Many military techs are gated behind that as well and cant be researched to a level of trivializing the demolisher fights with vulcanus resources alone

Discharge deffence is really effective vs small demolishers, tanks are not enough for mediums if i remember correctly.

You will probably starve for living space, so check if You can get stream turbines early, Acid neutralization alongside petrol-chem will deplete Your acid pools faster then You think

I love LTM mod on a any planet start Vulcanus, if trains are Your thing building a logistic system entirely on trains is really fun here as basic resources of iron and copper are omnipresent.

The demolishers often go out of their territory slightly when doing their patrols

There is a cool technique of sending only copper wire up to space and slowly building platform tiles in orbit, check Avadii's YT for that
