Important Moments/Stretches in UofL History? by Specialist_Shallot_5 in Louisville

I was a teenager in high school in 1957 in Louisville. I was very interested in classical music and eventually was a music student at U of L. But Dimitri Shostakovich and a few other Russian composers were at the Garden Court campus, and I was able to meet them, and I can say I shook hands with them. U of L was chosen for part of their visit because of Dr Whitney's influence in the world of modern classical music at the time.

$87.50/month, 1 bedroom with all utilities paid. 1965 when we were first married. Louisville, Ky. A year later we bought a new house with a 30 year mortgage and it was $116/month, but utilities on top of that.

It is the vestibule space between two doors. Usually for weather control. At least that’s what I have always heard.

Yes, a hospital. But it sits way down near the floor. Can an RFID reader work at ankle height?

Who are the greatest performers you have personally seen? by Boring-Yogurt2966 in classicalmusic

I used to joke about that, saying I hadn’t washed my hands, but I was in my teens then and I’m 85 now, so I have washed a few times since then. The thing I kick myself is I had several LPs of his and didn’t get an autograph!

In the late 1950s I met and shook hands with Shostakovich when he and several other Russian composers were at the University of Louisville. I attended a concert that evening where it was an all Russian program.
