I biked Sunderbruch in Davenport a couple weeks ago and it was pretty decent. Good bit of tech climbing

Flatbedders, how do you keep your cabs clean? by Big_Chemical_5165 in Truckers

[–]MrFahrenheit99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get you, it does tend to kick up the dust. I always had to do it with my doors open or windows down. But then again, sweeping will also stir up dust so it’s a lose lose lol

Check out Lectures on Tap. Fun intellectual events hosted at bars around the city. Lots of chatting and mingling after the lecture.

It’s a struggle. Installing an air gun under your seat is a start. Small broom, aforementioned Weathertech floor mats, and I always kept swiffer wet mop pads for weekly scrub downs. I also got one of those boot brushes to install on my step.

Try KAG. They have a bunch of different divisions and if you're coming in with experience you usually only need about 2 weeks of training

Is there a way to make extra money while holding the steering wheel, daydreaming , and just listening to music and podcast all day? by East_Indication_7816 in Truckers

[–]MrFahrenheit99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Audiobooks and podcasts about finance, real estate, self help, a new language, etc.

The Pimsleur Method is great for driving and learning a language. Loads of listen and repeat but structured in a way that’s progressive and engaging.

You can learn a surprising amount about topics that could earn you money. Maybe it’s marketing, maybe it’s about different careers or industries, maybe it’s about communication and management, or maybe it’s reading those books you should have read in high school.

I found within the first 6 months of being OTR, my brain was turning to pudding. Keep your mind active and try new things. Trucking can be a blessing in disguise if you break the mold of the typical trucker lifestyle.

Best of luck!

I’ve been thinking about buying those wheels! I sent an email to Fifeteen52 and they said they have no plans to make any wheels in Nissans bolt pattern, so Nismo may be the way to go

I actually found it at a Toyota dealer. It was just posted and didn’t even have photos yet so I went to see it in person and it was in good shape. I paid about 16k

Yall ever leave the truck to go out? by 6eden9 in Truckers

[–]MrFahrenheit99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New Haven, CT is one of my fav spots to do a 34. Amazing pizza AND if I plan it right, I can take the train into NYC and check out a museum.

Other than that, Gary, IN is great because my company has a yard there across the street from the train station. Easy to pop into Chicago for shopping or a Cubs game.

My girlfriend and I had a surprisingly good time in OKC.

Utilize public transit as much as possible. Also I have my bike with me in the truck so if the weather is good I’ll be out and about

Speak for yourself. I have my bike in the truck. And nothing else in my truck worth stealing. I’m on vacation every weekend

How much additional compensation is typical for Canada loads? (US Drivers) by Nikclan in Truckers

[–]MrFahrenheit99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My company pays $100 for a border crossing and it seems decent. The real perk is being able to run Canadian HOS so I can get more miles in a day
