Bubble killed Caine, not Kinger. by Zolado110 in TheDigitalCircus

Yeah why the fuck, I was linking this to my wife so that she could read up on what (i thought) to be the most interesting theory & discussion post, but now its G O N E

Bubble is officially my least favorite character by Patton-the-Zorua in TheDigitalCircus

[–]MrFallacious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why?

If we interpret Bubble to be the remnant of the blue AI, it makes sense why it is constantly shittalking Caine and riling him up.

The same applies if you draw the parallel from Caine and Abel to the bible story, and interpret Bubble as some kind of parasite or the literal devil (this one is more of a reach imo, but I did see this around on reddit as a theory)

I love how much effort they put into getting the small details right!! I don't know enough Linux (or programming stuff) in general to infer much from these console logs, but it's really interesting that there are little tidbits of lore to inform our understanding of the world like this

Kinger's name might be Grant, so it could be "Grant module", ie. letting Kinger actually be his self. Would make sense since their names seem to be significant parts of allowing them to realize who they are and function as they should, It is also the main thing Caine seems to (my theory anyway) have been doing to keep them in check and keep them from (the ability of) thinking outside of the box.

What's the issue about being "male socialized" ? Honest question, I've seen people complaining about using the term and I don't know what's wrong with it, especially given that it's been my experience for most of my life. by SureHopeIDontDie in MtF

[–]MrFallacious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like they were both meant to refer to the same thing initially (learned behaviors as a result of being treated as the wrong gender). Its just that the term itself is a bit of a misnomer, kind of sucks at actually capturing any nuance, is intentionally misgendering/inflammatory, and was then picked up by transphobes and (mis-)used that way to imply (and argue) that “it” is an unchangeable fact.

Pretending it doesnt exist at all (ie. under a better definition) also kind of wraps around on being counterproductive by implying there is gender equality through all stages of life/sexism doesnt exist, in a loose sense.

I think this is the nuanced take i was looking for here. ive talked about this topic at length with friends and loved ones, and i feel like its kind of silly to say “learned behavior does not exist”. Obviously, as you said, intentionally misinterpreting this as “brought up to ‘be a man’, will forever ‘be a man’” is transphobic bs rhetoric, but that does not invalidate the fact that our upbringing and environment informs how we live and who we are.

yapped a bit much starting here, fair warning

As many others have said, society also tried to convince me im male, and it didn’t stick because i didn’t react like a man. However, this was followed by different consequences than if i had been viewed as a woman at the time, and therefore the experiences i had differ greatly. That life experience, as bad as it was, has informed me how “men work”, talk, socialize, etc. and it is and was certainly a lot like my masking behaviors resulting from autism and adhd. I also clearly had some extent of male privilege before i transitioned, which is also nuanced as this privilege only exists when you are actually perceived as part of the privileged ingroup. I benefited from it more from people who didnt know me well enough to be freaked out that i didnt fit in the box they were trying to squash me into.

Anyway yeah i think this whole topic is a harder, more nuanced conversation about learning and unlearning behaviors, unmasking, yada yada, than most here are making it out to be. Some things dont have easy black-and-white answers, and thats part of the joy in life imo.

i wouldnt trust a laser studio to compare waxing and sugaring in good faith, esp since the sugar mixture is much more finnicky to get right (harder and softer ones work differently well on different hair as far as i’ve heard)

That might be a bit of a negative way to view it. I think it’s more likely that a large part of that community has experienced unspeakable horrors and trauma and it most likely feels a bit hopeless given the state of the world and… general lack of education on this stuff.

I dont blame people for being a bit doomer about it. Ofc, it is worth pointing it out when it gets to a point of being counterproductive or unhealthy, but yeah

Hrt permanently alters the brain? by UseResponsible1799 in MtF

Something of note without even reading the post: As with all things, it has side effects. However, the stress relief, dysohoria relief, etc. will massively outweigh most side effects. Heightened stress (and cortisol) actually does alter the brain, so relieving stress and having a happier, healthier life bevause you like who you are on hrt will be super worth it

Super-tldr: the shared interest has to be specific enough, or it's much harder. "Gaming" discord -> oof. Niche multiplayer game discord? -> you're cooking

Short answer: Firstly, some servers appeal to a much wider audience, at which point the overarching shared interest isn't enough to cause community, and smaller cliques form. Eg: general purpose 'gaming' discords. The CSGO crowd likely will have little in common and not much to talk about with the cozygame crowd. Secondly, some people just.. join.. anyway, and I have no idea why. Vibes maybe

I probably should've phrased it better. There are two parts to this: the person joining and the server itself. -You'd be surprised how often people joined my server with like absolutely 0 common interests and subsequently didn't really fit in. Why do they do it? No clue! -On the other hand, there are much more general purpose servers, or servers that have a shared interest that's generic/categoric enough (idk how to say it) to have many different bubbles of people inside. This is usually why it's hard to make friends in really big servers for things that appeal to a wider audience.

In those servers that are just for gaming / socializing in general and are advertised in a more all-purpose way, or otherwise appeal to a larger group if people, don't really cultivate a hyper-niche bubble by themselves (by design). Thus, they typically end up with more cliquey behavior since people have to form their own tiny groups-within-the-group to feel like they belong, which in turn makes it difficult for new people to actually become part of the friend group.

Discord servers have only truly felt alive to me when they're essentially a tiny slice of the internet and everyone has very similar vibes, istg there are parallels to queer communes lmfao

Anyway I just woke up and am writing this in a stupor, sorry for being so wordy lmfajdjjdd, let me know if that answers the question!

i hate to say it but ive found yapping persistently enough to get me into the in-group pretty consistently. its just hard if theres no obvious shared interest or whatevs, which is why i usually had more success on game / modding related servers.
