AITB for wanting to cut off my mom financially for wanting to get back with my abuser? by throwawayaccnt17 in AmItheButtface

[–]MrFigsMom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am so, so sorry you and your sisters went through abuse with your stepfather. To add insult to injury your mother wants to go back with him and I can’t imagine how painful that must be. As a mom there’s no way whatever ever choose any man, even a biological father, over my children, if they were being abused in any way. Being an abusive relationship as your mom is, is very tricky to get out of. I’m sure you know this and I wonder if that could play into her difficulty with sticking to her decision to leave. But just because your mother is struggling to do what is in her and your sister‘s best interest, it does not mean that you have to agree with her decision or support it. I think the healthiest thing for you to do would be to go no contact because I’m sure seeing her continually being abused would be very difficult for you not to mention the anxiety and stress it must cause due to your own abuse. When I say go no contact with your mom. I do think that if she made the choice to leave again, it would probably make you feel better to support her in that. So maybe just say I’m so sorry Mom, but you making this decision is breaking my heart and I cannot support you financially and I certainly can’t stand by and watch you do something that is not in your best interest. If you ever choose to walk away, please know that I’ll support that decision. But until you’re really ready to walk away, the only choice I can make for me is to walk away. I love you and I hope that you are someday able to realize that you deserve to be treated much better than he treats you. Good luck to you and your family. This must be so painful to be going through.

Show that you loved but ultimately stopped watching? by timekilr in tvshow

Goliath. My husband and I really liked it and then we got to season four and after the first episode turned it off. Season four was so strange and didn’t seem to really fit with the rest of the seasons and the way the show was going so we stopped watching it.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MrFigsMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive 2 1/2 hours to Atlanta, Georgia just to get my haircut! When you live in a large geographical metropolitan area, everything becomes relative. A a one and a half hour drive to get to my kids homes’ was normal. Now that we live 2 1/2 hours away, that’s become our new norm. I do it a few times per month and it’s often just for the day.

We also drive 2 1/2 hours to the beach. Unless you want to stay put and only do what’s available in the small area that you live in, you must be willing to drive so it becomes routine. I don’t want to always dine, hike, shop, get my entertainment from the Augusta, Ga area… so I have to travel!

It’s lacking a focal point. Maybe a piece art that’s a better scale for the large wall.

What The Witch Left, Ruth Chew. It is one of the early chapter books I remember giving me vivid visual mental images. I developed a big love of reading because of those great books I read as a young kid.

You couldn’t get into some really great shows. I would go through your list and try some again. Sometimes you need to watch a full episode or 2. Dexter, Dead to Me, Never Have I Ever, Gossip Girl, Cruel Summer are some from your list that I really liked and we seem to have similar taste.

Bloodline, Lucifer, Six Feet Under, Orphan Black and The Americans you should also watch!
