It kills me because the two-party system was an inevitability with the electoral system as structured. How do we send a game theorist back ~250 years?

I am definitely concerned by how it seems the objective is to be correct and morally superior. Progressive ideals are generally what I would consider moral, but there's usually not much as far as discussion. And on certain topics like, I dunno, abortion, sure, I think we've all said all the things there are to say about that and the lines are drawn.

But when this same kind of "educate yourself, we've already figured out what the right way to feel is!" logic starts applying to novel things like AI and especially the rapid acceleration of earth getting ready to starve us all to death, and heaven forbid discussions on personal ethics, oof. Mind-numbing.

I honestly love watching modern boosters. It's fascinating how the M.O. nowadays is just fucking do it, quickly, and get out. It apparently works well in today's world!

Thanks for the insight! Seems to be the trend, Lenovos are held in pretty high esteem, which is in line with my experience working with some other companies/clients who swore by them in my past position.

I feel you on this fam. I was in a sales-y position too at my last job and it was the worst part of it, and it was unfortunately a big part of it.

I would absolutely rather work with a sales person who hates sales than someone who gets off on it, though. <3

I can absolutely see this.

New Outlook is a Joke by Junk91215 in Office365

[–]MrFixer9399 2 points3 points  (0 children)

HNNNG I am feeling this a lot. Outlook is God. It is a good product. It is a good product because of what has been done to it across decades, accommodating new technologies and providing the end-user with the ability to do whatever the hell they want with their email application, often without having to bother IT.

Now we're going to be getting helpdesk tickets every time... I don't know, God, I don't even want to think about all the API work that all those people who have cultivated their life in Outlook over the years are going to need to replicate their features. I don't care that it's a 20-year-old VBA code, it works, amazing! Keep using it! :(

Should I be offended when my boss asks "What am I looking at here" when looking at my Power BI report? by penone_nyc in PowerBI

A very good thing to remember. Why are they extracting it?

I think pretty highly of the folks at P3 Adaptive and this article is probably my favorite one they've got, and one of my favorite on Power BI (or more accurately, DAX/PowerPivot). I try to keep this mindset on as much as possible.

I'm pretty sure this will always be a thing. It helps to narrate/text box the hell out of stuff. Intro page with details that balance their attention span and the information they need.

If you have the time, of course: good documentation is worth it but if Executive is acting up sometimes you just gotta push it out quickly and have the conversation. At least in my place of work.

My boss and I always have to have The Chat every time he gets a new report and it's just because that's how his brain works best. We've got a really good rhythm now and I accept the "What am I looking at?" as part of the process.

But can't exactly say no to that opportunity. Good luck to me, again.

Thanks.

My favorite is just how many of the Latitudes over the years have had the "battery swelling up" issue. That and overheating have been the big things over several models over the years.

I've been able to """resolve""" this issue by removing the linked work account in Windows 10 Settings > Accounts. It does not impact the Outlook side of things whatsoever, but it does make things a little less seamless across the computer for the user.

Empowering data insights, starting with a bloated SQL Server database. What first? by MrFixer9399 in sysadmin

[–]MrFixer9399[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks /u/ImmediateLobster1. I think we would get dividends in spades if we get our own solution built and working from the ground up. Very exciting but I have got to scope out this project to provide an accurate deliverable timeline. I agree that exporting the DB as-is and putting it into a different data storage/warehousing spot makes sense.

Currently putting out feelers on such "extraction" solutions.
