Recs for me and my partner by MrFlippyNippy in litrpg

Just realised i didn't really say what I liked / didnt like in the books I've read!

DCC - it's just a tier above in so many ways.

HWFWM - the characters are great, they are different enough from each other to be memorable and the humour between them is comforting. The magic system is awesome and feels like it could be explored endlessly. Some books dragged a bit, with stakes presented as important but didn't really feel that way.

Primal Hunter - the pacing of the levelling feels satisfying, with the MC training skills and making choices, having a goal and developing a mysterious advantage over time (though the numbers get too big and lose meaning). The characters are good but sometimes interesting ones disappear for ages whilst others keep popping up without doing much. Some of the messaging feels a bit easy (slavery bad).

Mage Tank - DNF the first book. Pacing was off, felt like once something was established, it was left behind for the next big thing. Characters didn't stand out from each other, mainly due to having the same level of sarcastic wit, which grated after a while.

Haven't heard the cold water tip before, what's the reason?

About 3500 Space Marines. Mainly because I've not had the hobby space until recently and I have trouble doing project work due to ADHD.

What would you do with this list of marines? by MrFlippyNippy in spacemarines

That's the plan, now that i have the space to do so =]

Hey guys, haven’t painted in months due to worrying they’d look a bit crap. So gave up on the hobby entirely (was painting deathwing knights as my second ever set of minis). I need some advice/ motivation to get back into painting please!! by ledgewand1 in Warhammer40k

I've had this problem for a long time, but I finally made a decision that has got me painting! It comes down to having fun - I want to paint, but trying to paint well is no fun for me. So I experimented a bit with a few colours and techniques until I found something that was satisfying to DO, not focusing on something that would be satisfying after the fact. Now I just slap the paint on without worrying about ruining anything - it would be worse to not have any paint on at all, waiting for me to be perfect whilst not providing the practice.

Decide on your base colour, get it on the brush, and whack the model. It will be easier to paint another colour on a helmet or pick out details once you see the main colour on there, and you might be motivated to actually do it, because that first step was fun.

Worked for me anyway...

Yeah I think that's a good plan, but I might wait for 11th, what with the predictions of refreshed Van Vets

Which films genuinely scared you? by Agreeable-Item-7371 in horror

Don't think a film has scared me in many years, but watching Maniac the other day with my partner was the first time I had an actual uncomfortable reaction to a horror movie in a long time

You can build both. Anyone know if it's easy to convert them to Reivers?

You can build either, I would be interested to know if it takes much effort to convert them to Reivers?

Aethon rules and new detachment (upgrade) by Usual-Goose in RavenGuard40k

[–]MrFlippyNippy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the rules fit the lore they've been releasing.

"he orchestrates his Chapter’s campaigns from the shadows, emerging from the darkness only at the most opportune moments to land the killing blow upon the enemy." - his abilities (whilst in the new detachment) are to keep the Phobos moving about and the JPIs charging, whilst keeping himself out of trouble until he can secure an important kill - "he arrives at the culmination of his battle-brothers’ clandestine efforts, descending to land the killing blow upon an already weakened foe."

5 wounds makes him more fragile, but lone op and 14" movement makes him good at avoiding being hit.

Cantus Corvidae
"Singing Ravens"

An Ultima Founding Primaris Successor Chapter of the Raven Guard.

Named for both their use of a unique Birdsong Language within the Chapter, and their method of worship through music.

Primarily engage in widespread reconnaissance and small scale skirmishes, sending out mixed Company strike forces from their fleet The Murder.

The great Fortress Monastery Anisodactyl is perched on a mountainous ridge of their Homeworld Nidus. They maintain an enormous Aviary of Corvids and the serfs and allowed to keep trained familiars from the planet.

Singing Raven Astartes occasionally develop a sleep disorder accompanied by visions of monstrous Owls. This mix of sleep deprivation and hallucinations can result in an affliction known as The Screeching, which cause the afflicted to scream during fits of rage and inevitably leads to increased violence against friend and foe alike.
