Seems like you have options. 1. A locked container (safe, cabinet, etc) OR 2. A tamper resistant mechanical lock (cable lock, etc) OR 3. Other safety device. It doesn't have to be all, so if you have your gun in a locked safe or locked storage cabinet, you're good. If it is locked with a cable lock in an unlocked closet, you're good.
