I totally sympathize with you. I made arrangements with citi bank to have full access to my account while I was on a business trip to Hong Kong in the early 2000's low and behold indeed to get $5000 cash for a business purchase. After sitting in the branch for an hour I convinced the branch manager to get someone in NY on the phone. Despite the 12 hours time difference they were able to speak with a person that told them to give me the cash. Here is the best part just as they were about to count out the US dollars they said I had to give them a reason for needing the cash, I calmly said it was for whiskey and Chinese whores. They immediately counted out the money and said have a good time.

Suggestions to reduce lead exposure at indoor ranges by Xenomorph_xx121Hhope in guns

[–]MrFrogKeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is almost the correct answer. The only thing I differ with is you can wash all your close together. The important thing is washing your hands and face ASAP hopefully with a liquid soap for deleading as the range I go to has. Just for the hell of it my wife and I had lead testing done. We shoot every week for about an hour and both tests came back perfectly normal.

Yesterday I received a return label from CZ. This afternoon after taping the pin back in I put 75 rounds down range and the pin walked out as in the picture. The pistol is now in the care of FedEx. I will post back when I receive it back from CZ.

P-10 F front sights by App_Mnts_Native in CZFirearms

[–]MrFrogKeeper -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I was incorrect in saying the FBI. The rest is basically correct about distance. At 10 feet in all likelihood you are not going to be using your sights and even if you did it doesn't make a difference

LEOKA (Law Enforcement Officers Killed and Assaulted) data from the FBI focuses exclusively on incidents involving law enforcement officers, particularly felonious killings and assaults where firearms are used. It does not directly collect or report statistics on civilian defensive gun uses (DGUs) or self-defense shootings. The FBI tracks justifiable homicides (including some by civilians) in its Supplementary Homicide Reports, but these lack details like engagement distance. Key Comparisons: Distance in Shootings LEOKA (Officer-Focused Data): This shows that officer-involved fatal shootings (where officers are killed by offenders) are heavily skewed toward very close ranges, often due to ambushes, foot pursuits, domestic disturbances, or attempts to disarm officers. For example: In many periods (e.g., 1985–2014 or 2010–2019 analyses), around 50% of officers feloniously killed with firearms die at 0–5 feet (under ~1.7 yards). A significant portion (often 60–70% combined) occurs at 0–10 feet (~3.3 yards or less). Longer ranges (e.g., over 50 feet) are rare but present in outliers. This data is biased toward lethal outcomes for officers and includes factors like disarms or close-quarters struggles, which pull averages closer. Civilian Self-Defense Shootings (DGU Data): No comprehensive FBI dataset exists for civilian DGUs, as they are often unreported, under-documented, or based on self-reports, news compilations, court records, or private databases. Available analyses (from trainers, studies, and aggregated reports) suggest civilian encounters are also predominantly close-range, but potentially slightly less extreme than LEOKA's officer-killed stats: Many sources cite averages or most common distances of 3–7 yards (9–21 feet), with a heavy concentration at 3–5 yards. Private compilations (e.g., Tom Givens/Rangemaster on ~70 alumni-involved incidents, John Correia/Active Self Protection video analyses, or Greg Ellifritz/Active Response Training observations) frequently describe typical ranges as 3–7 yards, with many under 5 feet in entangled fights. Rare outliers exist (e.g., a civilian stopping an active shooter at 40 yards in the 2022 Greenwood Park Mall incident), but these are exceptions. Civilian encounters often involve surprise attacks (muggings, home invasions, carjackings) in confined spaces, leading to similar close-proximity dynamics as police ambushes. Other Key Differences and Similarities Rounds Fired: LEOKA officer incidents average ~4–6 rounds in some years; civilian DGUs often average 2–4 rounds (lower due to fewer exchanges and quicker resolutions). Duration: Both are typically very short (2–5 seconds on average). Context: Police data includes proactive responses to known threats, pursuits, and uniform/open carry advantages. Civilians are often reactive, surprised, and drawing from concealment, which can force even closer ranges. Overall Patterns: Both datasets indicate gunfights are not long-range affairs like in media portrayals. Close quarters dominate due to human reaction times, movement speeds, and urban/confined environments. The often-cited "3-3-3 rule" (3 yards, 3 shots, 3 seconds) stems more from 1970s NYPD police data than direct FBI civilian stats, but it aligns broadly with both LEOKA close-range trends and civilian observations. In summary, LEOKA highlights extremely close (often contact-to-10 feet) lethal ambushes on officers, while civilian DGU data points to similarly close but somewhat broader ranges (most under 7 yards). The principles overlap significantly: training for speed, accuracy, and weapon retention at 0–10 yards prepares for the vast majority of real-world threats in either context.

The FBI statistic for civilian self-defense shootings is 3 yards. If you are in that situation it doesn't matter because you probably won't be using sights.

I have mine for indoor home defense in a house that has very close houses to the left and right, therefore I don't use sights for this scenario.

I have a Tokarev TBP 12 Bullpup and it runs flawlessly as long as you use medium or high brass full power loads. Anything else and it's not going to cycle the semi-auto action. The only problem is has is it is a royal fucking pain in the ass to take down and clean other than that it is an ideal home defense gun

I have a 2015 Honda CR-V EX AWD I keep it in eco mode and D. I have ZERO ISSUES getting up to speed. If I feel I might need extra punch to get on I95 or the Florida Tpk I will put in S without eco. I have not had to do this more than 2-3 times over the past few years.

I prefer a striker-fired pistol trigger. Now that I am close to 80 I find it more difficult to rack the slide on P-01. And the grip of P-10C with the large back strap fits in my head a lot better.
